How to monitor the ISDN-D channel over PRI E1/T1

Monitoring  the ISDN-D channel is one of the features directly covered by the templates included in  Clarinet Run-Time.

Connecting the unit

The Clarinet Book USB E1/T1 uses the both A and B ports for monitoring the both T and R directions.

The Clarinet-Book can be connected  to the E1 interface in:

• parallel mode over E1. Clarinet inputs set as high impedance. See: wiring , connect,  pin-out
• serial mode over E1. Clarinet inputs set as 75, 120 Ohms. See: wiring , connect,  pin-out

The Clarinet-Book can be connected  to the T1 interface in:

• parallel mode over T1. Clarinet inputs set as high impedance. See: wiring , connect,  pin-out
• serial mode over T1 with clarinet inputs set as 100 Ohms. See: wiring , connect,  pin-out

Setting the test conditions for PRI

A new profile can be created  with the Wizard from the Template list by selecting:

• Profile->New->ISDN......See: building
  • ETSI
  • ATT
• Profile with a description including ISDN, Monitor, PH=E1 or  T1, SL=Q931
  • ETSI
  • ATT
• Filter with a description including  SL= Q931, DL=BOP

Example using the wizard:

• ProfileèNewèISDNèETSIèisdn_mon_e1.acpèFilter?èisdn_etsi_bop.acf
• ProfileèNewèISDNèATT-5ESSèatt_mon_t1.acpèFilter?èatt_etsi_bop.acf

Profile resulting from the wizard is ready for Q931 or X25 monitoring the D channel in High Impedance mode.

Optional modifications to apply to the profile:

• E1 options: CRC4 multi-frame if CRC4 is used on the interface.
• T1 options: ESF/SF multiframing,.....

Saving the profile under a new name:

• ProfileèSave asèfilename.acp.

Running the profile

To launch the profile:

• Select Profile->Run or click over . It allows to select the name of profile. See Running a test
• The windows of the Event-Editor is automatically opened.

To stop the profile

• Click over   See: Stopping a test
• The window of the Event-Editor is automatically close

Troubleshooting over PRI

• No messages displayed on the Event-Editor windows. Check if the Alarms line have an indication  such as ' -+ FL' or '++FL' meaning that no signal is detected. 
• The protocol messages are displayed on the wrong directions: the E1 or T1 pair connected to the A and B port are the reverse side.
