Chicago's Festa Pasta Vino
2400 South Oakley Avenue In Chicago's Heart of Italy!
A Chicago Neighborhood Turned Into Ancient Italy with Colums, Statues & Fountains!
Chicago, Illinois, USA 6/16/2011 - 6/19/2011 Description
The Chicago Festa Pasta Vino Italian Food and Wine Festival, Chicago’s only Italian Festival, will take place on Father’s Day Weekend, June 16-18th in the “Heart of Chicago” on Oakley Avenue just south of Cermak.
The true star of this three-day celebration is the delicious food. Some of Chicago’s most authentic Italian restaurants are located on this two city-block area making up the city’s best-kept cooking secrets. La Fontanella, Bacchanalia, Ignotz’s, Il Vicinato and Miceli’s Deli will be serving from their street booths the recipes and vast array of homemade quality Italian dishes that have made the neighborhood famous since the 1940s.
For over 20 years this annual festival has annually transformed a generations-old Italian neighborhood into the streets of Italy with columns, fountains and statues. Performers in authentic Venetian Carnivale costumes will walk the streets and pose for pictures around a breathtaking working scale replica of the Fountain of Trevi, turning it into a festive Italian Piazza.
The Heart of Italy neighborhood was settled around 1900 by the northern Italians, from the regions of Tuscany and Piedmont. The southern Italians settled primarily in the Taylor Street area. Although both regions of Italy are represented in the neighborhood, the restaurants and shops around 24th Place and Oakley Avenue in the 25th Ward still reflect their northern Italian roots.
So come back to the old neighborhood soon for a truly fabulous dining experience!
Performers Entertainment for Festa Pasta Vino includes the best of both Italian and Italian-American cultures.
