How to Prepare the Paint Surface on the Car


Your first goal in touching up the paint on your car is to make sure the area you are going to paint is clean.

Step 1: Thoroughly and completely clean area to be painted with ordinary dish soap.

Step 2: Dry completely.

Pro Tip: Do not apply touch up paint in direct sunlight.

Pro Tip: Using a preparatory solvent and a clean and lint free towel assures the best clean surface free of grease, wax, and other oil based surface contaminates.

Optional: If sanding is needed due to damage then a two-step process is used. First, use 180 grit sandpaper to remove rust or other surface damage. Then, after using 180 grit sandpaper then use 320 grit sandpaper to remove scratches resulting from the 180 grit sandpaper.
