Materials

The ACM Composite Bearings materials are a range of advanced resin bonded, fibre reinforced bearing materials combining engineering fabrics, thermosetting resins and solid lubricants.

Our range covers many different applications but where a current material cannot meet a specification we are able to tailor the ingredients to improve certain desirable properties and are able to develop completely new materials where needed.

Advantages over traditional bearing materials such as metallic or polymer type materials include:

  • High load capability
  • Self lubricating
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Dry operation
  • Dimensionally stable
  • Water, oil or grease lubrication
  • Do not encourage corrosion
  • Accommodation of shaft misalignment
  • Press, freeze, bonded or mechanical fit
  • Easily machined
  • No toxic substances
