"Come Little Children"

"I'm not a witch, I'm your wife." -The Princess Bride

All this week, I'm wearing eye makeup to school.
The English teachers know about it, but...
I wonder what the principal will say.
I'm celebrating my cultural heritage, so there.

    Anyway,
Just thought I'd bore you and your readers with some facts and rumors.

Edgar Allan Poe is my fav. writer and Come Little Children is much debated as you probably know.
SOME people say the real writer is John Debney.
John Denby, James Horner, and Brock Walsh are credited with it's creation for the movie Hocus Pocus.
Some say that they believe John did write it basing this belief on the fact that the structure is nothing like poes works, but all writers go through writing phases.
Which is why there are many who still believe Edgar Allan Poe originally wrote this poem and it was never authenticated.
Which is why it does not appear in books of his complete works or he is a credited as the original writer on any purely factual known website.
But this poem has been published in early collections of his works and now does not appear in any.
Many say that it is his poem, but John Debney changed many of the words for the song Come Little Children found in Hocus Pocus.

Personally, I hope that Edgar Allan Poe did write it.
He is like I said my fav. writer and this is one of my fav. songs as well.
I hope that one day he can fully be accredited to this poem.

Either way, thank whoever for a beautiful poem/song and thank you for singing it!

    Happy Halloween out there!

    1. I'm sorry but there is no indication that Poe ever wrote this poem- it's wishful thinking on the part of people. It's not his style (yes I know poets and writers often experiment with different styles of writing but not in this case). There are no 'lost' poems of Poe. There are several early collections of his work and this poem is not in any of them.
