Sublimation - Introduction
Sublimation is the process of transferring
sublimation ink to a polyester-based material.
The image is printed on paper then heat pressed on to the
material. Under heat (approx. 200°C) the ink turns to
gas and the fibres in the polyester open which allows the
gas to penetrate the material. Away from the heat the fibres
close and the transfer of ink is complete and permanent.

The benefits of sublimation:
- Design is virtually unlimited, from
simple shapes and colours to blends, shadows and photographic
images.
- Numbering can be done when printing
eliminating the need to have hot sweaty plastic numbers
on the back.
- Logos, names, numbers and sponsors
can be included in the design in full colour.
- In some instances, prices can be cheaper
than tradition-panelled garments with the additional costs
of embroidery, numbers, lettering and screen-printing.
Sublimation has many uses and can also be
used for pennants, flags and banners of all shapes and sizes.
