Echidna takes a tumble

Recieved a call on a Saturday night after a Echidna was clipped while

crossing Browns Rd ,Cranbourne South, with only slight bleeding she

was taken to the Woofpurnay vet clinic for an xray to make sure there

was no fractures to any part of that important part of the nose. All was

good news! Just a graze and two days later after a good feed, we

released her back to the same spot. Only away from the road!

To re-unite with her family.

On the night of her rescue.

The day of her release.

Pelican

After receiving a call from residents at Berwick Springs Sharon, Nigel and Brendan headed down to rescue a pelican in distress. The Pelican was unable to fly, get out of the water on to dry land or swim without a struggle.

After rescuing him by boat we assessed his condition and checked for anything trapped in his throat such as fishing hooks, and any other rubbish that may have been stuck. His throat was swollen and very hot, he was taken to vet Dr Katrina Gregory. After x-rays it was shown that the pelican had fractures to his neck, possibly caused by hitting power lines while in flight.

Unfortunately due to the injuries we had to put him down.

Goat cruelty "atrocious"

Jessie the goat was dumped from a car and thrown into a ditch on Thompson Rd, Cranbourne by a cruel and heartless Man on a 38 degree day and left to die. Jessie's cruel fate was seen by a passing motorist who quickly do a U turn to see if the animal was still alive. She was indeed but very limp and barely able to keep her eyes open, Jason immediately contacted Australian Animal Rescue and bought the very sick goat to us.
Sharon with the help of volunteer Josh got to work on her, immediately administering IV fluids and a Vit B injection as well as a good dose of antibiotics. Barrie Tapp of 1800 Animal Cruelty contacted Sergeant Gavin Buchan from Cranbourne Police station to report the act of cruelty as well as all the local papers in hope of getting some answers. Jessie's condition was serious she was emaciated, dehydrated and unable to hold her head up. It took 5 days for Jessie to be able to walk 3 metres without collapsing.
After 3 weeks and lots of treatment and care by Sharon and the wonderful volunteers, Jessie was running around and doing a great job of pruning the rose bushes. Jessie went on to live at Clunes Victoria and is one very happy and spoilt girl.
