About Moira Drexler

My name is Moira Drexler.  I am an Australian who currently lives in Erlangen, Germany.  I own two shops one of which is here in Erlangen called Australiss.  The other shop is in the heritage listed Brisbane Arcade and it is Kellies Antiques.  I am married and have a son and a daughter.  I travel the world seeking beautiful items for both shops

When I finished school in Geelong, Victoria, I went to Deakin University as I thought Primary School Teaching would be a great career.  I also had a passion for art and antiques and my career path followed my passion.  Do what you love and love what you do is a good slogan for me!

Living and working in Melbourne was fantastic and I eventually left Melbourne to live in London which was a worthy experience but I didn’t like the dreary weather.  Returning from London, I stopped in Sydney and it was in Sydney that I met the man who was to be my husband.

In 1997 I purchased Kellies Antiques in the Brisbane Arcade, Brisbane city centre. It is a beautiful arcade and I think one of the nicest places to shop in Brisbane.  The ambiance is just beautiful.

Australiss opened in 2007 with a contemporary flair.  Very different to Kellies Antiques, my shop on Martin-Luther-Platz is home to many different contemporary jewellery designers and makers.

Once a year I hold an Australia Festival to thank the people of Erlangen and surrounds for supporting me.  We have many different exhibitions and events and the people line up to try our Kangaroo Steaks.

  1. Hi Moira,

I am enjoying reading all about your shop and that you are included in a book – how great is that.

I was in Europe in May this year, but did not get to Germany. Went to Estonia, Croatia,Ireland, Vienna and Prague.

Let me know if you want help – look after kids, clean shop – Just putting it out there – you never know what happens in life.

  5. Hi Moira,

I hope you don’t mind me getting in touch. I found your details on your website and I hope you might be able to help me with my strange request…

I am a Producer working on a television show called House Hunters International which follows English speaking expats in their quest to purchase a house abroad. I wonder if you or any of your expat contacts might be interested in getting involved?! Please find a little blurb about the show below:

House Hunters International is a half-hour program currently airing on the Home and Garden Television Network (HGTV) in America.
The series is designed to de-mystify the international home-buying process by going behind the scenes of a house hunt where buyers and their real estate agents tour 3 homes.

At its core, House Hunters International is a travel show concentrating on the idiosyncrasies of the locales and what makes them special and different.

You can watch some examples of the show here:

Please get in touch if you have any more questions about the show. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best wishes and many thanks,
