Isle of Tiree
The Isle of Tiree
is one of the Inner Hebrides. It is only 10 miles long and maximum 4 miles
wide. It has a population of between 800-900 people, but has proved a popular
place to visit.
Tiree lies to the west of Mull and just south of the Isle of Coll. It is renowned for its
high amount of sunshine and low rainfall, but does happen to be a windy place as
well - there being no landmass between North America and Tiree to reduce the
wind speed. The large waves and sandy beaches make Tiree a popular
windsurfing destination - with a World Championship windsurfing event every
October.
