24th Annual Roadrunner Rally Recap

The 24th annual ROADRUNNER RALLY was a success! We had several emails from attendees after the rally praising the event (see below). We made a made a profit which leaves us in good shape for our preparations for the 2005 Rally. The steaks were good, weather was accommodating if a bit breezy. (Sure beats rain though). We had new faces this year in the form of The Cartwright family of Iron Horse BMW, Tucson. We hope they will become regulars. Victory BMW did their usual outstanding job providing Demo bikes and door prizes as well as Poker Run Prizes as did Iron Horse BMW. Camp Shadow Pines staff has made many improvements since last year. More restrooms, more grass to camp on, and an improved level of service to our rally attendees.

By the way, the 2005 rally will be our 25th and should be done in a really big way! Send us your suggestions on how we can “step it up a notch” next year. I’m always glad to have the rally behind us. But guess what? We’ve already started work on next years rally!

The new Board of Directors will be seated on July 1. This year we are extremely lucky to have a total of 9 members, that’s more people to keep me in line! The new board is enthusiastic and looking forward to serving you. We will have a Ride Coordinator/Director responsible for planning more day/weekend rides. We also have a membership chairman, advertising chairman and an article will be submitted to BMWON about 25 years of PITS. We are looking to form a closer bond with local dealerships. We are also looking to design a Club Shirt, so send us your suggestions. Board meetings will continue to be held at Denney’s, Rural (Scottsdale Rd) at the 202 at 6 p.m. on the 2nd Monday of each month, mark your calendars and plan to attend.
Herb LeGendre has made arrangements for the 2004/2005 Carefree Highway Cleanup at 9:00 am on Oct. 2nd, 2004 and April 2nd, 2005. Go ahead and mark your calendars for these dates also, ride to follow.

We currently have 25 Years and Still Rolling PITS Patches for sale (see Newsletter); send your $7 to Clint Alston and your patch will be mailed.

As always, if you are interested in putting on a day ride or have suggestions, please email or call me.

Roadrunner Rally Thank You’s.

My wife and I attended the Heber rally last weekend...our first time. We were impressed with the location, event organization, and the program in general. We send you and your organization "Thank You" for all the effort you put in. It was a good time, we'll return.

You guys did good, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Tom

Greetings!
I just wanted to thank you and the rest of your crew for a great rally and a job well done! I and a couple of our chapter members were in attendance and had a great time. It was my first BMW rally and I found the camaraderie outstanding, the food excellent, and the location could not have been better.

I am relatively new to Beemers, having ridden Harleys for 20 yrs. Before that I had ridden and owned just about everything but a BMW. I've been riding since I was 8 yrs. old, bought my own bike at 17, and I'm now 51yrs. old. I've now owned a K12LT, R1100S, and am now on a '04 R1150RT. I think I've now found my perfect bike. Thanks again for the great rally! Lord willing, I'll see you again next year.
God bless,

P.S. How about some tech sessions next year? Thanks!
