What to Wear
There is no particular dress code in Malaysia. Generally, wear casual and relaxed but modest clothes (light, loose cotton clothing). Wear clothes that cover your shoulders and legs when visiting mosques, temples or churches.
However, it is also hot and humid so we suggest that lightweight clothes in natural fibers; linen, silk and cotton will be more comfortable. Rain is frequent during the wet season, so lightweight clothes will also dry more quickly.
T-shirts and shorts are perfectly acceptable, but avoid skimpy or revealing clothes or you will get unwanted attention.
Hotels, restaurants and shopping malls are usually air conditioned and at times this can be pretty fierce so be sure to tuck a shawl or pashmina into your day bag.
If you are visiting on business, then trouser suits are acceptable for women.
Malaysia Currency Exchange
Currency is the main concern while traveling to distant places. In a country like Malaysia, money conversion is really easy. All you have to do is simply walk into any high street bank or bureau de change and exchange your currency. If you’re carrying traveler’s checks, then too, you can convert them into Ringgit (MYR) at banks and authorized money changers all over the country. Pound Sterling is the best currency to exchange, however Dollar (USD) also makes a good deal.
Each and every commercial bank is endorsed to deal in foreign exchange, be it foreign currency or traveler’s checks. Credit / Debit Cards of American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa are accepted countrywide. Apart from banks and money exchangers, major hotels are also approved to exchange foreign currency provided in notes and traveler’s checks. Always prefer converting your money at main tourist centers because it could be difficult to exchange in other areas.
Some large departmental stores also deal in currency exchange. To get better value for your money while avoiding additional exchange rate charges, it is always recommended to carry traveler’s checks in Pounds Sterling, US Dollars or Australian Dollars. Banks usually charge US$2-3 for each money conversion transaction. Though Money changers are faster to deal with and don’t charge commission, their rates are changeable.
General Information
Visitors may bring in or take out any amount of currency, except Malaysia Currency. When leaving Malaysia, a person must NOT have more money than the amount he brought in. If the person has more money, he must declare from where the extra money came from.
Ringgit Malaysia (RM)
One may bring in and out of Malaysia, only RM1000 and NOT more than that.
Foreign Currency
If the amount is more than US$2,500, one has to fill in form IMM26. This form IMM26 will then be endorsed by immigration officers and returned to the visitors to be kept.
Visa
Malaysia Visa:-
Foreign nationals who require a Visa to enter Malaysia must apply and obtain a Visa in advance at Malaysian Representative Office before entering the country. A visa is an endorsement in a passport or other recognized travel document of foreigner indicating that the holder has applied for permission to enter Malaysia and that permission has been granted. Foreign nationals who require a Visa to enter Malaysia must apply and obtain a Visa in advance at any Malaysian Representative Office abroad before entering the country. Visa, which has been granted is not absolute guarantee that the holder will be allowed to enter Malaysia. The final decision lies with the Immigration Officer at the entry point.
How to apply for a visa
Application for visas should be made at the nearest Malaysian Missions abroad. In countries where Malaysian Missions have not been established, application should be made to the British High Commission or Embassy. The applicant should present himself together with the following documents:

AN HISTORIC WALK THROUGH KOTA KINABALU CITY
Kota Kinabalu city has a lot more to offer and the only way to know Kota Kinabalu, more popularly known as KK and also Api locally, is to stroll down the streets down memory lane. It is a city with an interesting mix of history and modernization and made up many points of interest, as well as faces and colors that reflect the history of our people.

If you would like to get a well rounded understanding of our city’s historical streets and sights, there will be the opportunity to join some fascinating guided walks around Kota Kinabalu city areas on the last day of the conference (December 11, 2010). Take a nice jaunt with local Historians Md.Shaukhi and Rizal Zamani Idris and explore the historical settings of the oldest street in Kota Kinabalu(Gaya street), Atkinson Clock Tower, Sabah Tourism Building, Jesselton Hotel, Double Six Monument, North Borneo War Memorial, City Mosque and learn about its pre-war, post-war (when Sabah was known as North Borneo) and post-independence eras while mingling with the locals. The walk will start at around 2pm and take approximately two and a half hours before returning back to the Hyatt Regency hotel. The Walk will definitely be a memorable one for delegates and complementing one visit to Sabah.

Morning, pick up from your hotel and transfer to jetty to take a boat ride to Mamutik Island, a peaceful and tranquil island with sandy beaches. You may snorkel, swim or relax on the beach or take a walk around the island. Beach mat and snorkelling gears are included. Thereafter, transfer to Manukan Island for a BBQ lunch. Relax and look for colourful fishes at the jetty. Return to the mainland and transfer to your hotel.

Visit a traditional Rungus longhouse in a village just outside Kudat. The architecture of the longhouse is unique, with towering poles rise some feet above the ground and walls sloped outwards. The interior fittings are exquisitely furnished with locally-sourced materials like bamboo stems and rumbia leaves. Enjoy a traditional lunch cooked by the Rungus women. After lunch proceed to a modern Rungus longhouse. The Rungus people still maintain their traditional spiritual beliefs and this gentle tribe is known for their stunning handicraft especially beadworks and ornamental items.
