  1. Concept is fine, but it’s an awful shabby piece of software! This should have been built in properly, I blame both Acer and Microsoft in equal measure.

I’ll continue using my Mac OS X machine to do video and audio capture the way it should be done.

I’m finding less and less uses for my Vista laptop every day.

  2. Thank you for this ! 🙂

  3. ..but i have a problem….video of 10sec is 150mb large…i mean this is redicilous…is it like this with other software ???!!!!

….does anyone know where to find some proper software for recording trough our built in camera on acer laptops ?

…and whose software is this crystal eye ( ic it Acer’s ) if so i dont understand why put a capture button ( for pictures ) and not a rec buton for video ????

    …WH WHY WHY ?

    ..all the best
and hope that acer will make some update with a video option very very soon !

  4. I just got a new aspire 6920 and acer has deleted the live cam program so there is officially no way to save video from the webcam without downloading or purchasing other software.

  5. –> Angry

I uploaded the three files in the SUYIN NB Cam from my computer. Download them and put them in a folder and see if it works. I doubt it but its worth a try.

  6. I just don’t understand why they did that to the webcam??? It’s the only reson I picked this computer. 😦

Oh, well. Lesson learned. I just use a digital camera and warn friends against this computer, because even if you go threw all that the files take up to much space.

  7. WOW thanx for the info!!! I have been searching and searching for a free program for this!!! Thank you soooo much!!!

  8. This folder is not on my acer 4420. Any other options. Please send me an email thx

  9. Joe, I tried to send you an email but it did not work. Check my latest post for a solution to your problem.

  10. This information was SO HELPFUL!! Even the comments were helpful. I was so frustrated trying to figure out how to capture a video with my built in camera. If I knew what I know now, i would not had purchase this laptop, because of that simple reason no video capturing. However, I really enjoy my laptop. So this blog really saved me alot of time because i wasted enough earlier trying to figure it out on my own.

    Thank you once again!!

  11. Angry’s reply actually worked..QUICK!

  12. i have just got a acer aspire 8920g and no such suyin nb cam or any kind of file relating to suyin exists
    pleeeeease help

  13. Thanks go to aznballa161. I have an Acer Aspire 6920 with the Crystal Eye Webcam. I actually got a GREAT deal on this Office Depot “open box item” with a full warranty laptop but one reason it was a great deal was the built in cam. I was sort of aggravated that the Crystal Eye software had no video capture option. I got the files that aznballa161 had posted in June this evening, installed the items, and was able to capture video. Thanks again. That will show you…..ACER.

  14. Anyone owning a acer aspire 6920 and wants to have video capture go to this site. http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html

This is the best site with no pop ups. Trust me its easy to use and download in minutes.

  15. I have excatly same problem.
This is frustrating. I even serched the system for both the folder AND Live Cam (Also took LiveCam to be sure)

    *sigh*

  16. yeah, I bought my ACER Extensa last year and found the hidden file. The problem I have had is once you click the microphone button when setting up the capture info, an error pops up saying “graph cannot preview”. It does this a good bit. I found somewher that if you empty the pictures file, it will then work, this is true a good bit,
ACER is telling me that there is no capture software in my computer. How can you get help from them when they don’t even know their own product and the programs hidden in it-
I bought this laptop for the built in webcam, I guess for the price it was OK, but the thing should work out of the box at least.

  17. Thank you so much for the information, but there is no audio. Anyone have any ideas on how to record both video and audio simultaneously????

  18. wow, thanks Angry, your method worked but still 8 secs of video is 175mb….!!!!! wow thats huge….anyone know a way of making a 2min video under 3 gigs???? lmfao thats crazy….2 hour films are only 700mb and this cam is only 1.3 MP….that is so confusing

    thanks again

  19. ANGRY!!!!! 火

  20. Hey guys

i downloaded the files from anzballa and they work

now to make it smaller… open the file then click publish file, to my computer, name it, then u get to the gold mine. click more settings and it gives u info on the file type and size required. hope this helps..

    vista only im aware.

    cheers

  21. hey i have an acer aspire 2920 and i don’t see any suyin nb cam or such… is there any other way to record videos using the integrated webcam??? someone pls help!

  22. I found LiveCam but I’m still having problems here. When I click on Device > Microphone (Realtex High Definition, I got this message

Error 0: Cannot create video capture filter

Can somebody help me with this?

  23. Problem, I had followed what you said but i do not see the SUYIN NB Cam at all? I have the acer computer, dolby home theater widescreen aspire.
All I have on my computer is the SUYIN Folder underwindows. That’s it?

  24. I have an Acer Aspire 5920. I found the Live Cam and it asks me to allocate disk space for each capture. What do I tell it? Also, there is no audio and when I click on the Microphone option it tells me that graph cannot be previewed????
    Any help would be great.
    Kat

  25. First, thank you for a very useful piece of information! With some adjustments of the cameras pixels and the time and file size AND the microphone level, it works ok, although it’s a litte backwards and awkward…

Now, this is actually funny: they have a crummy little piece of software, and they hide it, so that noone can find it!

I find it extremely amusing. And then they actually remove it from later versions!

Now, if that ain’t high quality humour, I don’t know what is 🙂

  26. I set the disk space to 150 MB, since I have some 80 GB of space. I don’t think it’s important, so long as there is enough space for the recording you wish to make..

You must specify the file name before recording! That’s a load of fun!

  27. .. but can’t rec audio in the same time .. 😦

  28. this has been really helpful but of course being able to add audio to it would be so much better! does any one know how to do that yet?

  29. hey, i’ve got a problem. i don’t have that Suyin NB Cam button. i have just plain Suyin, but if i double click it, it doesn’t open… it just asks me if i want to delete it or something.
    any suggestions.. ?

  30. hey. just tried this out. the capture works just fine, but the sound isn’t working. i will play with it some more to make sure i’m using it right, but other users are right… the files are much to big for the crap quality of a 0.3MP cam.

this is a major disappointment, as a built in webcam was a major selling point for me. i thought for sure i’d be vlogging more with this. thanks for at least getting me this far. not being able to capture video was driving me insane.
    now i just need sound.

personally, as one user suggested, i think it’s easier to use a digital camera and upload the vid teh old fashioned way.

  31. After having my Acer Aspire 6920 for 4 months I have only just realised it doesnt record!!! I need to keep a video diary and I just assumed my comp had the facilities to do it – how dissappointing – I have just DLd aznballa161 files and yay – it works – but has any1 figured out yet how to get sound 😦 Thanks in advance x x x

  32. I am having the same issue as Addie. I cannot record audio with my acer orbicam, when I activate my Device “Microphone (Realtek High Definition) I get the following warning:

“Error 0: Cannot create video capture filter”

My Acer laptop is a Aspire 5920.

  33. My audio capture seems to work now. I clicked Capture>Capture Audio, and it seems to work now.

I did install an extra from skype for recording audio/video calls, so maybe that triggered somethign that wasnt there before I am not sure, it was the supertintin recorder for skype that I installed, anyway not sure if it had anything to do with it or not but thought i would report back in case it helped anyone.

  34. Try going to “Devices” and selecting the microphone. For me, it says “Microphone (Realtek High Definition)” and this should give you audio.

  35. just use windows media encoder.it is free and you can download it from microsoft download center.it is not as good as the other video capture software but it does the job.acer really sucks for not putting video capture software on their laptop.if you have any other alternative please comment…

  36. hey i cant find any suyin nb!can u please tell me another way of capturing videos??
    Thanks

  37. i meant still using the acer!

  38. I bought ACER Aspire 8920G, and i have a problem with Acer Crystal Eye… It can capture pictures, but there is no option to capture video…

  39. Hi All,

This sofware ois free and links on no problem. Work with sound and is excellent quality! At last I got it!

    http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html

    woop woop.

  40. First of all KUDOS to Tyrone on October 18, 2008 for leaving that post. There are a lot of great free software downloads on that site and all of the ones that I have downloaded do work. Yes, unfortunately there is no video capture for vista users like my self. I have read quite a few different blogs where some people’s crystal eye doesn’t even work at all. Well mine didn’t either. I don’t think the software was ever installed because other software used it fine (ie instant messengers) So something finally made me click on the icon for the acer store and low and behold there is a link for downloads and I was able to download the software for my acer crystal eye. LOL! no video capture so all that tracking defeated my whole purpose. but thanks again to tyrone…

  41. As far as the camera not working, if you try downloading Crystal eye, it installs bad drivers for the camera. Just uninstall the driver/program, and Vista will auto-reinstall the original drivers (pre-configured driver folders, it says)…

  42. Just to say thanks to Tyrone. Didn’t bother with the Live Cam stuff due to all the problems mentioned here. I downloaded the program from http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html in about 30 seconds, and can now record audio and video. 1 minute files are around 60mb, and I didn’t have to change any settings or anything.

    Thanks a lot!

  43. They stink for this. I got an Acer 5315. I was going to make a vid. for youtube but can’t because their just cons’. Ripping peaple off. That’s Not Right. But wet it comes with a vid. maker but can’t just think for a second that the person who buys it would need it with the movie maker. Duh… It;s not right. I’m sooooo mad.^_^

  44. i cannot find driver sonix 1.0.0.6 pleas help me. i cannot use my webcam without this driver.. please who want help me..

  45. your weird so shutt up ya’ll ❤ love yazz 22<3M<M<>MMHGFRE%$&*(@!#$%^&*()_+##$

  46. stuff

  47. I would like to thanks to Tyrone for suggestion of this site, http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html

With “Debut Video Capture Software”, I can record video and audio simultaneously from my screen desktop and my acer crystal eye webcam.
(I use Acer Aspire 4710 with Windows Vista)

It’s very easy to use, and outcome is awesome. Forget “SUYIN NB Cam” or “LiveCam” forever!!!

  48. I was so dizzy trying to figure out how to capture a video with my built in camera. but not today :D. thanks!

  49. I believe everything posted was actually very logical. However, what about this?
suppose you composed a catchier post title?
I am not saying your information is not good, but what if you added a post
title to possibly get people’s attention? I mean Capturing video on Acer notebook with Crystal Eye software on Windows Vista aznballa161 is kinda boring. You might glance at Yahoo’s front
page and note how they create news headlines to get
people interested. You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to grab people interested about
everything’ve got to say. In my opinion, it could bring your posts a little bit more interesting.

  50. Thanks for finally talking about >Capturing video
on Acer notebook with Crystal Eye software on Windows Vista | aznballa161 <Liked it!

  51. Here are some ideas to help begin the remodel house softwareing process by installing sinks, lighting and other fixtures.
