Embedded Devices (Sensors & Actuators)

Supported devices

Marilou integrates many of the most popular embedded devices:

  • Material sensitive distance sensors (infrared, utlrasonic, laser)
  • Motors, servo-motors, step motors
  • Odometers
  • Shock detectors and accelerometers
  • Mobile/fixed cameras (black & white and color)
  • GPS, compass
  • Emiters/Receivers (material and transparencies sensitive)
  • Light sources and detectors
  • ...

Device override

Marilou includes a complete set of user-modifiable virtual devices. The behavior of these devices in Marilou may be overridden by the properties of real devices available for purchase. This feature keeps you from having to worry about setting up devices, allowing you to use a known device‘s parameters directly.

Marilou’s integrated wizards offer all the tools you need to add new references easily, and its off-the-shelf device library is updated automatically as soon as a new reference is entered.

For example, Sharp’s GP2D-12 general purpose distance measuring sensors override the inherent properties of Marilou’s default virtual infrared sensor: beam incidence on surface, reaction to matter, noise, max. detection, intervals, distortion due to range...

Adding devices

Marilou’s wizard applications let you add known (or virtual) references to the generic device category. New, non-generic devices may also be added using C++ plug-ins, with wizards generating the project and minimum code for implementing the plug-in.
