As a child, I was brought up in a creative environment with a mother who was a fine artist and a father who was a photographer by profession. I studied art and graphics to graduate level obtaining a BA (hons) in graphic design. After finishing my degree course, I spent the next 6 years working as art editor for Dorling Kindersley publishing company in London before taking a career break to bring up our own 2 children.

Having seen our son and daughter through primary and into secondary school and having also gained experience working in the art department of our local secondary school, I became aware that art is often pushed aside in a results focused school curriculum.

As our children grew older, it became apparent that they were both interested and talented in all aspects of art. I scoured our local area for a high quality art class for them to attend that would enable them both to spend extra hours engaged in creative activities over and above what school was able to provide them with. It appeared that no such classes existed in the area and that creative children were missing out.

In January 2010 The Arthouse was born! I am hoping to give local children a unique opportunity to come and express themselves freely and to help them develop a love of art in a caring and stimulating environment.
