Must See Attractions

Albany Georgia's must see attractions include an aquarium built around a 175,000 gallon blue hole spring, a wild animal park, the Southeast's largest collection of sub-Saharan African art, information and memorabilia about the 1960s Albany Georgia Civil Rights Movement, a house whose cellar housed food supplies for the Confederate Navy during the Civil War and more.

Performance Attractions

Albany Georgia's performance attractions include Southwest Georgia's only professional symphony, a ballet company that performs classical and modern ballet, a Grammy Signature Award winning chorale as well as plays and musicals performed in an historic pre-Civil War landmark. Jazz performances are provided annually by a cultural center whose home is an historic theatre that has witnessed performances by Ray Charles and Roy Hamilton.

Venues

Albany Georgia's venues include the largest indoor municipal facility south of Atlanta, an auditorium that is the successor to Georgia's largest Chautauqua auditorium, a former library now a welcome center that was awarded the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation Award for Outstanding Adaptive-Use Rehabilitation, a Civil Rights park, the trailhead of the Flint River Greenways, a theater that has been the performance home of an African-American playwright, and a 2500 outdoor seating facility on the bank of the Flint River. Many of these venues are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Together with other facilities, these venues provide an impressive amount of Albany Georgia meeting space. Albany meeting space also includes facilities at Albany State University, Albany Technical College and Albany Parks and recreation.
