Born in Birmingham (UK) and living in North Warwickshire, Tidal Aka Wayne, has always been into music since an early age. Some of his early musical memories come from many genre's including Reggae, Electro, Hip-Hop, Soul & Electronica.

It was through his older brother Richard, how he got exposed to fresh music growing up.1995 was a pivotal year for Tidal, as this is when he was first introduced to the sounds of LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad.

"I was listening to a lot of the more commercial side of jungle back then, but it was the tracks which had the musical breakdowns, which really caught my attention. There was a whole wonderful mystery to the music."

Through listening to a lot of tunes, from various mix albums like Promised Land & Logical Progression, he decided to venture into drum 'n' bass production in 1998, and then later progressed into Djing back in 2000.

“I remember taking a trip down to Bristol going to my first Progression Session, when I was still at university. I saw LTJ Bukem & Nookie play and they both smashed it completely! I was almost lost for words at the end of the night..I knew then, that this is what I wanted to bedoing.”

Since his first demo, Tidal has received interest over the years from labels like Covert Operations, Inperspective and International labels like Testflight (D.C), Warm Communications (Texas), Offshore Recordings (NYC) and Camino Blue (Germany).

In 2002 Tidal had his first signing to ASC's futuristic label Covert Operations (based in Bradford). His track entitled "Zero Divide" was eventually released as part of the Warm Communications / Covert Operations CD compilation, “Thought Process 1”.

Production wise Tidal has done numerous remixes / collaborations with respected artists like Simon V, Pete Rann, ASC, Resound, Galaxi (Deep Gemini), Void, Intersidereal; and he also hopes to work towards some more future projects with other artists.

“I’ve also done some r&b / d&b crossover remixes over the years, for fun...Nobody is doing that with progressive stuff really. Definitely an area I’d want to explore.”

Djing wise Tidal has been involved with the 'System Check Crew' who have put on numerous events in the Midlands (Stoke-On-Trent area), and who played out at nights like 'Homegrown', Shaolin's 'Autumn' nights in Birmingham.

Tidal also enjoyed many a gig playing at Massive Records (before it closed) in (Birmingham) with the System Check / Central Projection crews.

"In 2002 I started as a presenter for New Style Radio 98.7FM (Birmingham) to be involved with a new weekly drum 'n' bass show, along with the rest of the System Check DJ's Xtract (Leicester) & Lubi J (Cardiff). We had kept a good connection since leaving university. So I thought this would be a great opportunity to keep the original crew going. The show in itself is something special, It's the only Legal FM radio show in the midlands which covers all styles, I couldn’t tell you of another show like it, were very fortunate.”

In 2006 Jay Le Roc officially joined the team alongside the rest of crew hosting regular shows.

Tidal presents the ‘Progressive’ show on rotation with Jay & Xtract and some of his previous guests have included ASC, Chris Inperspective & MC Q, Pete Rann, Future Engineers, Dan B, Kytel, Jay Le Roc, Roeg Du Casq & DJ M.

Tidal has overall played in various gigs in the Midlands area, But also has been fortunate enough to have played on an International level, debuting in San Francisco USA back in November 2003, and has continued to make a international presence in Canada, America and Germany.

Tidal is also a resident @ 'Central Projection' which is the premier outfit for exclusive deep + progressive nights drum ’n’ bass in the Midlands. Alongside Jay Le Roc, MC Smilee, Soul Objective & Donic.

Central Projection are also residents @ the 'Progression Sessions’ nights in Birmingham courtesy of Hotfoot. This annual special event see's Central Projection play alongside LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad from (Good Looking Records). This residency has been going since 2004.

Tidal is one of the co-owners from Advection Music, and also one half of the 'Deep Gemini' outfit alongside DJ Galaxi.

The concept originally started back in 2000, and has now progressed to a deep drum 'n' bass label in 2005.

The label has forthcoming releases from Tidal, Galaxi, Aural Imbalance, Mindgear, Kytel, Soul Objective, Equinox, Aquasion & Deep Gemini, just to name a few.

"With my own productions in an ironic way, I like to make tracks I want to hear myself in club, the same feeling I used to get from listening to those Bukem, Blame & PHD mixes for the first time, I try to aspire to capture peoples minds in the same way."

This style of atmospheric drum 'n' bass I'm deep rooted in, is the innovative 97-99 sounds of labels like Ascendant Grooves, Cadence, 720 and Good Looking Records.

It's not just about beats or making tunes for the dancefloor for me but more about, soul & feeling. I believe tracks should be open to an any interpretation and shouldn't be one-dimensional.”

An important progression for Tidal was when he remixed Pete Rann “Gyration” track back in 2004. This quickly received the attention of Nookie who signed it to Strictly-Digital. What later followed was a few tracks signed to the label including the well received 'Sahara Blue' which was featured on the Atmosphere Prologue Mix CD mixed by Nookie Featuring MC System.

A Highlight in 2005 saw Tidal remix a track by established Minimal House outfit Neurotron;which was again well received and even played out by Orange 'n' Blue, Aural Imbalance & Future Engineers.

Highlights from 2006 included Tidal remixing a track from upcoming stars “The Projects”called “52,000 Feet High”, which came out on the Transcendental E.P on The Projects ownlabel.

The year also saw a track signed to Strictly-Digital called 'In My Life', which is out on the 'Atmosphere' Chapter 2 CD (Mixed by Nookie). The year also saw the release of Tidal's debut 12" on the Torquay based Cintamani label with the tracks. 'Citrus Clouds” ''Submerge' and 'World Departure'.

In all Tidal has received DJ support from the following Artists / DJ’s
