Dragons Way Martial Arts
of Fort Myers

Master Sunn taught an eclectic mix of martial arts with Tae Kwon Do as the basic style. Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art form and is good for beginners because of its simple and direct approach. All fundamental blocking and hand techniques and of course numerous kicking techniques were covered. As the students progressed in the karate class, more sophisticated techniques of Aikido, Jujitsu and Kung Fu were introduced for an overall self defense program and physical conditioning.

Also offered by Master Sunn was Tai Chi or Tai Chi Chuan which is a form of martial arts but with soft and gentle movements for physical wellness and meditative purposes. It is very suitable for people with physical limitation or elderly people. Yoga can be incorporated in the warmup exercises prior to the Tai Chi movements to relax and condition the muscles.

For energy cultivation, principles of Chi Gong and Falun Gong were offered. Chi Gong is a popular Taoist practice whereby the practitioner cultivates chi, or life energy. In the Buddhist Falun Gong, it is the other way around, with the chi cultivating the practitioner.

The Master Sunn was truly a person and an influence that will be dearly missed by all those whom he has touched.
