Local Collection: Designers and Artisans to be featured at Fanueil Hall in Boston

In Calls to Artists on March 12, 2010 at 4:35 pm

We envision Local Collection to be a great mix of apparel, accessories, jewelry, home décor, wall art, furniture and pottery/sculptures all done by local designers and artists.  Here are a few more details on the concept:

  • There will be a monthly fee of $200 to have your merchandise in the store.
  • The store will also take a commission of 50% of any sales over $400 monthly.  In other words, if you sell $500 one month, we would take $50 since you sold $100 over the $400 threshold.
  • We’re asking for a minimum of 5 months commitment up front.
  • We are trying to limit the number of vendors with similar product
  • We will provide store staff so you are not required to be at the store.  We are, however, looking at doing a monthly or bi-weekly feature of the various designers in the store at which time we would host an evening event to showcase individual designers.  It would be more of a trunk show format and would give you the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the shoppers.
  • We’re targeting both the tourist market and also the local Boston community who feel a strong sense to support local entrepreneurs.  With our Glendale store we’ve found that both men and women are receptive to the concept and the shoppers ages range from 18 – 55.
  • We are planning to open on April 30th with an invite only preview of the store and then open to the public May 1st.

This will be the second store we’ve launched and we’re very excited to have one at Faneuil Hall.  We think the response from the Boston community will be great and we’re looking forward to working with the amazing designers and artisans in the New England area.  We have secured a great space right in the middle of the center which has both an upper and lower level section.  Our plan is to merchandise the first and second level and also use a portion of the upper level as a workshop/event space to further promote participating designers/artisans.
