solution:
We have been working on your case about the solid object hiding the pipe at a higher elevation on AutoCAD MEP 2010 and have an answer.
Two things are accomplices working together to bring about this effect. Our MEP objects work with the displays like MEP Design. In plan view, our objects are not 3D, in fact they are 2D linework at 0 elevation. Ever try to orbit directly from plan view? Notice that everything looks flat up until you cancel the orbit command. Then suddenly it’s no longer plan view, and the objects spring up to be 3D? They are flat in plan for speed and efficiency. Second thing is the view is set to 3D Hidden. Our flat 2D 0 elevation linework is being hidden by the solid above.
To get around this, you have two choices. Don’t be in plan view, which agreeably is not much of a choice. Or open the Display Manager from the Manage tab of the Ribbon. In the tree on the left pane, expand on Configurations, then select on MEP Design but do not expand it. on the right pane, make sure you are on the Configuration tab. You should see Top, Bottom, left Right…Model. Top will currently be set to the MEP Design – Plan. Change that value to be MEP Design – Model. Ok out. The pipe will now be masking the solid below. The pipe will now be 3D in plan view.
