We are excited you have chosen to study in Australia! University is a time to meet other people and think about the deeper questions of life, like “What is the purpose of life?” or “Why is there suffering like the COVID pandemic?”. Joining a Christian student group is a great way to do that. We have Christian student groups around Australia and we would love to have you join our Christian community at university.
Most universities around Australia have specific International Student Ministry groups, called “FOCUS”. FOCUS is for International Students to Make Friends and Meet Jesus. FOCUS is part of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES). AFES is also a member of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). IFES is a movement of students sharing and living out the good news of Jesus Christ. This occurs in local university groups around the world.

About Jesus
Who is Jesus? The Bible tells us that Jesus is more than a wise man or a prophet. Jesus is God who came to earth as a human to fix our problem of sin. Sin is our attitude of ignoring God, living our way not God’s way. Sadly all humans have this attitude of sin. But the good news is that Jesus came to bring peace between us sinners and God through his death and rising again, that we celebrate at Easter. And only through knowing, trusting and following Jesus can we have real life and relationship with God and one another. Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). It is our prayer that during your time at university you will get to meet Jesus and follow him! We would love to help you get to know Jesus better and trust him by reading the Bible together with you. You can learn more about what Jesus has done here.
About Us
AFES stands for Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students. Our mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ at university so that everyone can know, trust and follow Jesus, and grow mature in their faith in him. We also want students to be trained to share Jesus with others, as well as serve him wherever they are, including in local churches. Our Christian university groups are led by students and supported by trained staff workers.
