Johnny in his own words:

   "Greeting Bat-Fans:

I have been a fan of the Adam West, Burt Ward series since I was about two years old.  I remember once when I was about four, my dad took off work early to take me to the mall to meet Winnie the Pooh.  One mistake, on the way we passed through the TV department.   And guess what was on?  You got it, Batman.  My dad is a very patience man, as I sat on the floor in that Sears store and watched a “Siren” episode, by the time it was over, so was the last showing for Winnie too.

My grandfather took me to the same mall, different store when I was about 5 to meet Burt “Robin” Ward, I was so excited that all I could do once I got up to meet him was to stare, and was unable to utter a single sound.  He politely asked me to step down, twice before my grandfather took my hand and escorted me from the store (I did get out with an autographed picture).  My grandfather was a true gem, once school started he would faithfully watch each episode daily (since they came on during school time-pre VCR), and give me updates that afternoon on the old rotary telephone.

Now, I’m all grown up and teach 4th grade.  On rainy days, I show the series to my classes, hoping to inspire a whole new generation.

This last summer my wife created my very own Batroom.  We painted the walls purple, and then she painted  murals on the walls depicting scenes from the series, the Animated Adventures, and Batman Beyond.  She also made custom curtains, a lamp, and furnished it will several cool items to help enhance the overall feel of the room. (check the gallery below)

In January 2004, we were able to meet the dynamic duo, and Frank Gorshin aka the Riddler at a convention here in Austin, Texas.  We had the opportunity to dine with them (along with about 30 other folks), get all of their autographs, and get our picture taken in the  Batmobile.  It is truly an experience I will always treasure, and I was finally able to have that conversation with Burt Ward making up for my silence almost 33 years earlier.  So, in conclusion, there have been various other actors to put on the cowl and cape, but from a line in a Simpson’s episode, Adam says “pure West”, and I’ll have to agree with that, that Adam and Burt make up the essence in my mind of just what the dynamic duo are, and always will be.  I would also like to say thanks to Scott for creating this page for the fans."
