How I got my Furnace for Free Using Rebates and Tax Credits

Posted on: January 22, 2010

Ok, so I have to be honorable with you. I am one of the last people out there to be pressing the fact that you can get something for free. Being a marketer myself, I am really VERY unbelieving when somebody tells something like what I’m saying in the title of this article. There are a lot of people out there who will try to hornswoggle you, and you perpetually have to be doubting and leary of all these sorts of things. You know the phrase:

If it sounds too positive then it really probably isn’t true.

Or something like that. Anyhow, my own experience tells me that there are no deals out there, but you do have to browse around a bit. Especially when it comes to key purchases. Lately, though, my wife and I were able to “almost” get a furnace for free, we were able to substitute our HVAC equipment (well, let me say that our furnace went on the blink and we had to replace it) for free using the available rebates and tax credits that are out there.

It’s not too good to be true… and yes, in certain localizations you can get free HVAC equipment. In some locations the available mix of federal, state and local government rebates combined with state and local utility rebates, plus our Service Experts discount rates and rebates really can result in a free furnace or air handler.

In this example, we did have to use our credit card and for our system to be installed. But, we are applying enough tax credit and getting the rebates from the government that actually will end up covering the total cost of the new system. So, while we do have to pay for some of it, we will end up getting the total system (virtually) for free using the tax credits and rebates that we get.

Depending on the age and condition of your current hvac, you can anticipate to save up to half off on your energy bills with a new high-efficiency HVAC system. The energy savings alone may even cancel the cost of your new system, especially if you choose to finance it with low monthly payments.

Without a dependable furnace or heating system, below freezing weather can result in bursting pipes, cracked tile and foundation problems. All of these issues can cost thousands of dollars to correct. To keep pipes from bursting, insulate them using inexpensive foam insulation, and let them to drip when extremely cold temperatures persist. During the winter I recommend fully winterizing the home. If you do not have a working furnace in your home, now is the time to take advantage of something like getting your furnace for free like we did recently.

We were able to take advantage of our localized Service Experts’ offer, which is a pretty easy offer at that: during their Great Winter Sales Event, we worked with Service Experts to put in a new Lennox furnace in our home. We ended up acquiring the G61v high efficiency gas furnace. We were considering about the new solar type of hvac, but that’s just too pricey for us right today. Anyway, they’re here installing it in right now, and while it’s pretty cool here and our furnace is off right now while they put in the new one, I’m looking for much hotter nights here at home in the near future.
