Kentmere Horseshoe

Introduction
The Kentmere Horseshoe is an excellent ridge walk around the Kentmere Valley offering great views across the lakeland fells.

The Accommodation
We stayed at Head’s Cottage in Kentmere, approximately 500 metres from the centre of the village. This is an excellent venue offering excellent facilities of an excellent standard at a very reasonable price. A highly recommended place to stay. It is also ideally situated for many of the walks around the valley in addition to the Kentmere Horseshoe which passes the side of the grounds.

Eating and Drinking
The village of Kentmere doesn’t have anything in the way of public houses or restaurants, however Staveley is quite local, approx 10-15 min drive away.
Here there are numerous pubs offering food and drink. We ate at the The Eagle and Child again which offers a wide choice of menu and, to be perfectly honest, the quality of food here is exceptional and the beer and wine is very palatable. Definitely worth a visit.
