Cricket Pads

Pads are protective equipment worn by all professional cricketers on the legs. The cricket ball can come to the batsman at speeds as great as 90-100 miles per hour, and the pads serve as protection for the cricketers shins and knees. In Test cricket, the pads worn by cricketers are usually white in colour. In limited overs cricket (either 50 over ODIs or 20 over T20s), the pads are coloured to match with the clothing worn by the players. Traditional pads made it difficult for the batsman to run across the pitch because of their weight, but newer pads, made from lightweight materiallike PVC no longer affect the batsmans mobility. Pads have velcro straps that fasten them to the cricketers legs.
