BROOK CC - JUNIORS

AGE 6-10 YEARS, CRICKET PLAYERS (AND PARENTS)

MANAGER : ROBIN HUDSON

(brookcolts@gmail.com, 07876-146139)

A very Happy New Year for 2014 !

After a very successful re-establishment of the Colts in 2013, we managed to exceed our expectations, not only with the numbers of players joining us, but also with the Under 9s team winning their league.

This year Brook CC's primary focus is to offer boys and girls aged from 6-10 years professional coaching sessions.

We are lucky enough again to have secured the services of Lindsay Moody, who has a wealth of cricketing and coaching experience and has played for Sussex Young Cricketers, MCC Young Professionals, and Sussex County Cricket Club

Lindsay will be supported by a number of experienced club members and if numbers are as expected a second coach will be provided.

A number of pre-season coaching sessions will be held on occasional Sundays, starting from the end of February. The intention is to use the facilities at King Edward's School Witley. These indoor sessions will will be followed by the 14 week outdoor coaching course commencing on Friday 25th April 2014 at the Brook cricket ground (further details to be advised)

As well as offering a quality coaching programme, Brook CC has entered two teams in to the under 10s and two teams in to the under 9s 'Two Counties Youth League' which begins at the end of April. In addition to this, a number of friendly matches will be arranged for all the above age groups.

To build on the success of last year and to maintain momentum with the increasing number of players expected, it is essential that we broaden the base of parents who are willing to assist on the coaching and match days. Enthusiasm rather than great cricketing expertise is the main pre-requisite ! Please contact Phil or myself if you feel you can help.

Please note that numbers will be limited; members last year will have first option to re-join provided their registration applications are received by, at te latest, February 14th 2014. After this date places will be offered to newcomers until we have reached the maximum age group numbers.

Outdoor coaching will be on a Friday (weather permitting) and will concentrate on the three core skill sets (batting, bowling and fielding). Each session will usually end with a game

6 years - 8 years of age (on 31 Aug 2013)     - 1700-1800
8 years - 10 years of age (on 1 Sept 2013)    - 1815-1930

Each player's cricket skills will be reviewed regularly during the coaching cycle with the objective of them maximising his or her potential

We will also be holding an Awards evening at the end of the season to honour all the achievements the children have made
