Barry O’Hare has been a prominent engineer, producer and musician in Jamaica over the last 20 years. He’s been the exclusive sound man for Burning Spear for years. Aside for Spear he’s mixed sound for many of Jamaica’s high-profile acts including Third World and Shaggy.
Barry is the one who discovered the singers Mikey Spice and Daweh Congo. Living in Ocho Rios he also runs his own record label, “X-Rated”, and has produced music for a variety of top artist including: Chezedik, Prezident Brown, Sizzla , Anthony B, Spragga Benz, Mikey Spice, Tanya Stevens and Frankie Paul. This photo was taken in New York City at the Magic Hat Studio during the recording of Burning Spear’s Our Music CD.
When I was living in Jamaica in the early 90’s we would always go over to Ocho Rios to check out the shows at the White River Reggae Bash. Barry O’Hare mixed the sound for all those concerts, Dennis Brown, Sugar Minott, Culture, Beenie Man, Brigadier Jerry, Garnett Silk, Tony Rebel, Big Youth and Ziggy Marley, quite a few memorable shows back then.
