The Institute for Higher National
Defence Studies (IHEDN)

This Institute is attached to the Prime Minister of France.

Its missions :

- Give to French personnalities, from different sheres of activities,
elaborate information on important matters relating to defence,

- Sustain the activities of the Auditors in their group or associations in their respective sphere,

- Conduct studies or research relating to defence,

- Participate with the Ministry, universities or other educational, information,
studies and research associations, in the defence matters,

-Receive the personalities or foreign institutes or colleges visiting France officially,
and inform them about France’s national defence policy.

The Auditors are chosen among higher civil servants, senior officers
of the army and officials from different spheres of activities of the nation.

The Auditors are appointed by a decree of the Prime Minister
and is published in the "Journal Officiel"

The head office is located at the Military school, in Paris.
