Calivan Exotics

Kathleen has had a lifelong love of Persians and then Exotic Shorthairs, starting her breeding program in 1986 with her husband, Mark Fisher.

The first Persian they bought with breeding rights was a calico van who was the inspiration for their cattery name, Calivan.

By 1996, Kathleen had acquired her first Exotic and subsequently bred and showed Exotics exclusively, enjoying great success in the show ring, including breeding almost 100 Grands. In 2013, GC, GP NW Calivan’s Tuff Tiger (pictured right) was shown to CFA's 4th Best Cat in Premiership.

Kathleen's love of the cats included an interest in the history of the breeds, reflected in the pedigrees, a hobby which was encouraged by the late Peter Romich of Grandaries Exotics.

Kathleen put her pedigree database online, hoping to provide a useful reference for cat lovers and breeders. She retired from her work as a diagnostic pathologist in 2004, and retired from breeding cats in 2011, now focusing her efforts on her pedigree database.
