Gary and Diane Hoffman
Heru Abyssinians

Gary Hoffman of Heru Abyssinians was the original cat person, Diane converted later.  Neither one of them had been to a cat show, planned on showing cats, or starting a long term breeding program.  That all changed when Diane lost her two pet Abyssinians, one to disease, the other one simply vanished from the yard.  After 6 months of depression, somewhere around 1986 or so, Gary found her a female ruddy Abyssinian in the wilds of Idaho.  Bob and Patty Taylor (Udjats) asked to see the new addition, and the rest is history.  Through all the years, Gary and Diane have worked on many shows, are members of many clubs, and lifetime members of Oregon Cats, Inc.  Kendall Smith and Jean Olson are Diane's oldest and best friends in the fancy.  Diane and Gary are one of the few true partner catteries: they both handle birthing, medicating, and, of course, the ins and outs (feeding/litter pans) of everyday cattery life.  It has been the people they've met in the fancy that have kept them going through the tough times.  There are some really great, dedicated, beautiful people in the cat societies.

Kendall Smith
Kenipurr Abyssinians
& Japanese Bobtails

Kenipurr Cattery began in 1976 with American Shorthairs, specializing in Abyssinians starting in 1979, and moving on to Japanese Bobtails in 1996.

Kendall has had Regional Winners in six breeds, and in 2005, she campaigned her Japanese Bobtail Longhair to her first national Win. She is currently captivated by the playful personality of the JBTs.
