We love receiving these updates, and if you have adopted an animal recently after seeing him or her on this website, we'd like to include your story here! Send pictures (digital or hard copy, which we can scan) and descriptions to us at SDRabbits@aol.com or

THANK YOU FOR MAKING "ADOPTION" YOUR FIRST CHOICE
WHEN ADDING A COMPANION RABBIT TO YOUR HOME.

Hayden holds bunny Pixel, who is a bit shy about this photo op, but is certainly happy about his new home with the Gee family.
Pretty Zena finally found her perfect new home!  HRS volunteer, Arielle, was looking for a companion to her bunny boy, Cadbury.  She brought him to our adoption day to meet girls and Zena stole his heart!  Now named Hershey, our little bun girl is very happy in her new home.  She and Cadbury bonded very quickly and love to do everything together.  Thank you, Arielle, for adopting our Zena and giving her a wonderful new home.
Sheena contacted HRS to find a new companion for Gracie, whose companion had recently passed away.  Gracie met several bunny boys and Walter was her perfect match. They are doing wonderfully and have already become fully bonded, as you can see in the photo to the right .  Thank you, Sheena, for adopting again from HRS.

Little Bunnyluv was adopted by the Thorvick family in December. They were referred to HRS by their neighbor, when they expressed an interest in adopting a rabbit.  The family did their research to learn about caring for a rabbit and then came to an HRS adoption day.  We introduced them to several rabbits but little Bunnyluv stole their hearts.  You can see how happy she is, here in her "holiday" photo with their daughter, Kate.  Thank you to the Thorvicks for adopting from HRS and giving Bunnyluv a wonderful new home.
Richard and his wife, Kelly, contacted HRS to find a companion for their bunny boy, Trixter.  We set them up to meet several girls at our adoption day and Natasha was the one to win Trixter's heart.  Their bonding is going very well and Natasha is very happy in her new home.  Many thanks to Richard and Kelly for adopting from HRS.
Little guy, Ace, was adopted by the Waymire family, previous adopters from HRS.  Mom decided to make the adoption a holiday surprise for the kids, after she went through our screening criteria.  We were happy to help with this surprise since the family is bunny-experienced and has a history of lifetime commitment to their rabbit companions.  We wish Ace a long and happy life with his new family.
Little munchkins, Muffin & Beasley, found a great new home with David and his wife, Thai.  They are new to rabbit companions but they did a lot of studying about them on the HRS web site and are looking forward to many years of enjoyment with their new little friends. Many thanks to David and Thai for adopting from HRS.
Blackjack & Mr. Pixie found a wonderful new home in December.  They love their new family and are enjoying the attention and special care.  Many thanks to the Pack family for adopting from HRS.
Penelope the big Rex girl, was recently discovered to have a severe malocclusion of her front teeth and HRS was asked to taker her from the shelter.  We were happy to help with her medical care but did not have room to house Penelope, so we put out a "call for help" to our supporters. Sabrina answered our plea.  She stepped up and offered to adopt Penelope and care for her chronic teeth issues.  It is likely that we will have Penelope's front teeth removed, but that's no problem for Sabrina; she has experience caring for bunnies with special needs.  Sabrina and Penelope hit it off right away and Penelope is now settling happily into her new home. Thank you, Sabrina, for taking Penelope into your heart and your home.
Darling lop boy, Marley, was adopted by Kathie and her family as a companion to their bunny girl, Callie.  An HRS volunteer, Kathie met little Marley when helping out at one of our foster homes.  It was "love at first sight!"  Being the little lover he is, Marley was thrilled about going home with Kathie and her family, and getting all the extra attention.  After a week or two of living side-by-side, Callie and Marley were introduced and got along quite well. They are now a devoted couple who really enjoy affection from each other. Many thanks to the Garis family for giving little Marley the perfect new home!
After waiting 5 years for her own home, Bindy has been adopted!  She now has a wonderful new home with long time HRS supporter, Susan, and will live with five other bunnies in a roomy and fun play area. This is the perfect home for Bindy and we are so grateful to Susan and her husband, Richard, for giving her a loving and "forever" home.
Foxy & Freddie have a wonderful new home!  Eric and his parents have been interested in adopting rabbits for some time.  They visited the HRS and several other good websites to learn about rabbit care. We are grateful that they contacted San Diego HRS when it came time to adopt.  After meeting several different rabbits, Eric decided that Foxy & Freddie were the best match for him.  They also seemed to enjoy Eric and getting a lot of attention.  Many thanks to the Woolsey family for adopting from HRS.
Little Rex boy, Baby, got a special new home when Courtnee and her father came to adopt a new family companion.  His sweet disposition was a good match for Courtnee and her family.  Baby has been renamed "Winston" and he's settling well into his new home. Many thanks to Courtnee for giving Baby a great new home.

Handsome boy, Bumper, found a wonderful new home with Kalani and her lop bunny girl, Razzi.  The two bunnies bonded very quickly and Razzi has been showing Bumper all the tricks to getting Kalani to spoil them.  Bumper is a very happy bun and really enjoys his new home.  Thank you, Kalani, for giving our big boy a wonderful new home!
Tiny bunnies, Sammy & Molly found their 'forever' home with the Morales family who recently adopted another HRS bunny.  We're so happy that the Morales' found room in their heasrts and their home for these two special buns.  Sammy & Molly are now living the life of "spoiled" house bunnies, getting lots of special attention from everyone in their new family.  Many thanks to the Morales' for taking in another two bunnies who needed a good home.
Lucky bunnies, Archie and Barbie were adopted at our September 20 adoption day. Both "special needs" bunnies, Archie and Barbie have found a wonderful home where they will be cared for in comfort and with love.  Thanks, Vicky & Kris for giving these two precious bunnies a special "forever" home!

Little Marigold got a wonderful new home when she was adopted by the Morales family as a companion to their boy, Shasta. We know she'll be very happy in her new home with all the attention from her new family and a new bunny friend to snuggle.  Thank you, Morales Family, for adopting from HRS and for giving little Marigold a place in your hearts.
Pretty Bambi (right) has a wonderful new home and bunny boyfriend (Thumper) with with the Eckmann family. They came to our recent adoption day to find a companion for Thumper and Bambi (of course) was the perfect choice!  The bunnies are getting along very well and Bambi is very happy in her new home.
Little Bugsy (left) found a great new home with Felicia and her bunny girl, Binky.  He's enjoying his new home and his girlfriend, and a bunny mom who takes his antics in stride.  He's getting lots of love and attention; just what he so desperately needed. Thank you, Felicia, for giving Bugsy the perfect new home!
Pretty little Ginger Pickle (left) is now the happy companion to lop boy, Pixel.  Many thanks to Rachelle and RJ for giving Miss Ginger Pickle a loving home. She has settled in well and is now a happy little girl.  Thank you for adopting from HRS and for giving our sweet girl a new home.
Beverly contacted HRS to find a new friend for your young dwarf boy, Skipper (right).  He met a few bunny girls, but tiny bun Pixel was the perfect match!  They are adorable and sweet together and make the cutest little couple!  Thank you, Bev, for giving little Pixel (now Molly) a wonderful new home. Can't wait to see them in their stroller at Bunnyfest!
Dominic and Cassie were adopted a few months ago to longtime HRS supporter, Leslie.  Even though she lives in Nevada now, Leslie keeps up on HRS activities and needs, and when she was ready to bring another bun into her life, she inquired about Dominic. Since she preferred a bonded pair, it gave HRS the opportunity to find a home for a second bun, Cassie.  We loved that!  Cassie & Dominic are very content in their new home and live a very spoiled life with mom, Leslie, catering to their every need.  Thank you, Leslie for taking these two lovely buns into your heart.

Here's little Twinkle with her new bunny dad, Aaron.  She is happy to have her new home and has settled in well.  Dad says she's curious, loves to explore and to play in the Cottontail Cottage.  She's also not afraid of Aaron's  older kitty so that's good too!  Congratulations on your new home, Twinkle.

Update: Twinkle is now Pepper and has settled happily into her new home.

Casper, little bun on the left, found a happy new home with bunny girl, Holimi.   She came with her mom., Gretchen, to find a friend to keep her company at home. She liked Casper a lot.  It took awhile for her to get used to having him in her house, but now they are great friends and love to do everything together.  Thank you, Gretchen and Holimi, for bringing Casper into your hearts and your home.

Our May Open House was the scene of this rabbit family's adoption.  Cotton, on the left, came with her family to have some fun (you can see the crafts she helped with) and to meet a bunny boy named "Frederick" (on the right).   Happily, Cotton and Frederick got along well and they went home as a happy couple.  Many thanks to Cotton and her family for giving Frederick a loving new home!
Little bun man, Cody (now known as Sid), found a wonderful new home with volunteers Heather and Noah.  He shares his new home with bunny friend, Ruby, and dog friend, Maisy.  His new mom, Heather, has become an expert "groomer" of Sid and he's now pretty good about getting his grooming several times a week. We thank Heather and Noah for taking little Sid into their hearts.

Pretty Gracie (right) has gone to a wonderful new home with a special friend, Bun Bun.  Robin and her family contacted HRS when their kitty friend passed away, leaving their little bun boy sad and lonely.  They felt he needed a new friend and might enjoy a companion of his own species.  They visited an HRS foster home where their boy met several bunny girls and he and Gracie really seemed to like each other.  Back home now, they are settling in and learning to get to know each other a little better each day. We hope they are bonded soon and wish Gracie and her new family many happy years together.
Little Girl finds wonderful new home!  This pretty little Lion Head girl was abandoned at a local vet office when the owners didn't want to spend the money for her care.  She is so adorable we can't understand how someone could give her up.  Lucky for the Garis family she became available because she's the perfect bunny for them!  Gentle and sweet, Little Girl loved the attention she received from the Kathie Garis and her 'men.'  Now, she's a spoiled 'house' bunny with everything she could ask for; most especially someone who loves her unconditionally.  Thank you, Garis family, for giving Little Girl her 'forever' home.
Luca and Penelope are living the 'spoiled bunny' life with their new bun mom, Carol.  Having worked with SDHRS for several years, vet practice manager Carol Chaney thought she might like to adopt. After perusing photos of adoptable rabbits, Carol found a photo and description of Luca (right) and felt she could offer him a good home. But, she wanted a bonded pair. That's where HRS came in.  We helped to find a bunny companion for Luca and decided that Penelope (left; a rescue from another vet office) might work. It was a good choice, and Penelope and Luca bonded very quickly.  Now they are happy "house bunnies" living the good life!  Many thanks to Carol for coming to HRS for help in finding the perfect bunnies for her.  And, congrats to Luca and Penelope for finding their perfect forever home! We wish you all many happy years together.
Lucky boy, Lyle, found his forever home!  Little Lyle has been patiently waiting for just the "right" bunny parents to come along. To help his search, we brought him to our recent Open House where he met Mallory and Travis. They had been thinking of adopting a bunny for some time, as Mallory's family has had them for several years and she wanted one of her own.  Lyle thought they were a great match and showed it by grooming Mallory!  To top it all off, Mallory won the "big" prize from the Open House Raffle; the fabulous new "Bunny Villa" from KW Cages!  Lyle traveled home in a 'fancy' bunny tote (another prize from the raffle) and is now enjoying his fancy new condo. We just know he's living the "spoiled bunny" life!  Many thanks to Travis for contacting HRS about adoption and for Mallory for taking Lyle into her heart and home.
Pretty girl, Bambi (right), was the perfect match for handsome boy, Honey. When Honey's mom, Erin, contacted HRS looking for a companion, she was drawn to Bambi's photo and description. She and her husband Ryan came to our adoption day to meet several bunny girls but Erin's hunch was right; Bambi was a perfect match to Honey.  They bonded very quickly and now are a happy couple of spoiled 'house bunnies.'  Many thanks to Erin and Ryan for giving Bambi a loving new home.
Little Frosty found a happy new home with young couple, Kim and Kyle.  They have been looking for a little bun friend to add to their family and contacted HRS to meet adoptable rabbits.  We introduced them to several nice bunnies, but Frosty clearly stole their hearts from the moment they met him!  Reports are positive, with Frosty all settled into his new home in a roomy x-pen with plenty of toys!  Congratulations, Frosty, on your wonderful new home!
Little cutie, Bucky, found a wonderful new home with Joi Campbell and her family.  Even though he has some special needs because his front teeth have been extracted, that didn't stop the Campbell's from falling completely in love!  Bucky has settled into his new home and loves zooming around the family room during his play time. He enjoys interacting with the children and they love to pet him and give him his fresh greens.  Thank you, Campbells, for giving Bucky a wonderful new home!
The Wenger Family is thrilled to have found a new bunny companion with their adoption of Pepper. They took all our advice and have set up Pepper in a nice x-pen house with  boxes to explore and plenty of fun things to play with.  Pepper also is getting to know about his new family and enjoys spending time with them. Thank you for giving Pepper a wonderful new home!
Handsome boy, Socks, found a wonderful new home and bun-mom, Amanda.  He is settling in well and even gives his mom kisses!  Socks is happy to have his loving new home and we are very grateful to Vandy and Amanda for adopting him from HRS.  We wish you many happy years together.
Angelina and Theodore are a darling pair of bunnies, adopted by volunteers Shirley and Anil, to become companions.  Angelina was their foster bun and they decided to adopt her and get her a companion at the same time.  Luckily she had many wonderful bunny boys to choose from, and Theodore was the little guy who got along with her best .  Now, they are a happily bonded pair of bunnies, loving their forever home! Many thanks to Shirley and Anil for giving Angelina and Theodore your heart and your home.
After a long romance, Tucker and Dori are finally in the honeymoon phase!  Dori's mom, Renee', contacted HRS to get help in finding her a bunny boy companion.  We introduced Dori to several boys and she seemed to like Tucker the best.  So home they went!  The bonding ws a bit rough as Dori was reluctant to give up her hard-earned space at home. Eventually she learned to share, and the bunnies learned to have fun together, and they finally became a pair. Yay!  Many thanks to Renee' and Dori for giving Tucker a loving new home.

Handsome boy, Kei (center) found a wonderful new home with Kathy and her daughter, Mercedes, and their bunny pair Sushi and Sashi. Mercedes met Kei at a recent kids volunteer event and wanted to give him a home. But with two other bunnies at home she and mom, Kathy, weren't sure if they would get along.  They visited HRS at a recent adoption day and the bunnies did great! Kei seems very content with his new friends and Sashi is happy to have another boy to boss around. :)  Many thanks to Kathy and Mercedes for giving sweet boy, Kei, a wonderful new home.

Pretty Tinkerbell, met darling boy, Smokey, at our March 1 adoption day and it was love at first sight!  HRS volunteer Cathy, and her husband Robert, were looking for a companion for their bunny boy, Smokey.  Though seemingly content, they felt that Smokey really needed a companion of his own kind.  When Smokey visited our adoption day he met several nice bunny girls but he and Tinkerbell felt an instant attraction.  They bonded very quickly and Tinkerbell is now happily exploring her new home with Smokey leading the way.  We appreciate Cathy and Robert for giving Tinkerbell a wonderful new home and wish them all many happy years together.

Jack and Sugar have finally found their forever home!  Isabel is an experienced rabbit 'mom' who has been without bunny companions for a while and was ready to hear the sound of soft little bunny feet in her home again.  She contacted HRS and checked out our adoptable rabbits online.  Several pairs interested her, but Jack & Sugar were just what she was hoping for and when she met them in person it was 'love at first sight!' Lucky bunnies Jack & Sugar have their own 'bunny room' with lots of free run in their new home.  They are settling in well and are happy in their new home with Isabel.

Big boy, Sir Lopsalot, has a wonderful new home and a darling bunny girlfriend!  We're happy to report that our big English Lop boy, "Lops," is now in his new home and getting all the attention he deserves.  Not only is he getting to know his new little girlfriend, his family is giving him TONS  of love and pets and a lot of run time. He has a nice roomy area to roam and is really settling in well. Many thanks to Julia, Bill and Skyler for giving our boy, Lops, a wonderful new home!

Pretty girl, Venus, was recently adopted by Tootie and Kurt.  Experienced bunny lovers, they were referred to HRS by their veterinarian after they lost their last rabbit companion.  Venus was a little shy at first but she has now settled into her new home and even jumps onto the sofa to give little bunny kisses to Kurt.  We think she's happy in her new home!  Many thanks to Tootie and Kurt for giving Venus a loving new home.

Little bunny, Darcey, found a new bunny mom when Linda contacted HRS to help her find a sweet Rex bunny boy.  She'd been searching for some time and never managed to find or adopt in time the exact bunny she was looking for.  So HRS brought in little Darcey from the North County Humane Society and he it was "love at first sight" on both sides!  Linda reports that Darcey is settling right in and loves getting attention in his new home.  Many thanks to Linda for her patience and for adopting a rescued rabbit in need of a second chance.

Little lop girls, Dasher and Dancer, found a wonderful new family! The Kriz family contacted HRS when they were thinking about adopting a new family companion.  They found our adoptable bunnies online and fell in love with these two cuties. Since they are an experienced bunny family and they have lots of room and time to spend with the bunnies, they were the perfect home for Dasher and Dancer.  Now the girls have a big x-pen house with a Cottontail Cottage and lots of toys. The Kriz women all adore them and they are already becoming quite spoiled!  Many thanks to the Kriz family for giving a wonderful new home to these two bunny girls.

Pretty Emily (right) is the perfect companion for older boy, Stevie.  Previous HRS adopter, Lisa, was looking for a gentle companion for her older angora boy. Since he's a bit delicate, Lisa was attracted to Emily's gentle nature.  When she brought Stevie to meet Emily, it was an instant attraction.  Emily is now settling well into her new home and she and Stevie and becoming closer.  We wish them many happy years together and thank Lisa for adopting again from HRS.

In the meantime, Sabrina loves her new home and is bringing lots of joy to her new family.  Many thanks to the Boggs family for giving Sabrina a wonderful new home!

His easygoing, friendly attitude was a really winner with the two children. Garfield's new family reports that he's settling in well and enjoying all the attention in his new home. Thanks so much to the Montzouris family for adopting from HRS!

Our recently adopted bunny boy, Casey (left) lost his new companion who passed away unexpectedly.  After giving him a bit of time to grieve, his parents brought him back to find a new bunny girl companion. There, he met J.J.  and it was a renewal of a previous relationship. Casey and JJ used to be "next door neighbors," from their original foster home.  The two bunnies welcomed each other immediately and began to snuggle.  It was so sweet!  JJ went home with Casey and they bonded immediately. They now hang out together under the dining room table; Casey's favorite spot!  Many thanks to the Goodwin family for giving our two foster bunnies a loving new home. We wish many years of happiness to JJ and Casey, and their new bunny parents.

They studied about the care of rabbits and contacted HRS to find the perfect bunnies for them.  At our adoption day, they met several nice rabbit pairs and decided on charming girls, Clara & Belle.  Now renamed Lucky and Stardust, the girls are enjoying their new home and basking in all the attention. Many thanks to the Wolf family for inviting our two special girls into their family.

Little Ricky found a wonderful new home with Eckmann family at a recent adoption event.  Sarah Eckmann had been wanting a bunny companion for a long time. After studying about rabbit care with her mom, Sarah was giving an "adoption gift certificate" by her parents at Christmas, so she could come to HRS and meet bunnies needing new homes. Sarah met so many nice bunnies she had a hard time deciding, but Ricky was clearly a perfect match for her.  We look forward to hearing how Ricky is settling into his new home. We know he is already loved by his new family and will be well-spoiled with lots of attention, love and toys.

Sweet bunny, Michael (on right), was recently returned to HRS when his family's situation changed. Sadly, he'd also just lost his bunny girl companion. Luckily for Michael, one of our foster homes was considering adding a third bunny to her pair, and we just "knew" that Michael would be the perfect choice.  Maria took Michael home and with time, patience, and plenty of bonding "dates" it only took about a month for the threesome to become a bonded group.  Now Michael has companionship and the loving home he so deserves.  Thank you, Maria, for giving Michael a wonderful new home and the companionship of bunnies Bogart and Esther. He's in a special place now.

Harlie is settling in and getting used to her new home and her new companion.  Many thanks to Kelli and EJ for adopting from HRS!

Bunny boy, Max, and his mom Lauren visited HRS to find him a bunny girlfriend.  Max was a bit hard to please, but little Sunny (right) was able to catch his interest.  She worked very hard at being a good companion to Max and now they are happily bonded. It took a little while, but just like in human relationships bunnies must build trust with each other.  Once they had trust, they became closer and are now a happy couple.  Many thanks to Lauren for adopting again, from HRS.  Best wishes to sweet girl, Sunny, and her handsome new husbun!

We wish you and Charlotte many wonderful years together

Big, fuzzy boy Duster found just the right match in Debi Gann and her daughter, Allison.  They are experienced bunny parents but had not had a bunny in their family for some time.  They contacted HRS on the recommendation of a friend, and we helped match them with just the right bunny!  Lucky for Duster his new family is experienced at grooming; they have a Bichon Frise' dog that requires regular combing.  When they saw Duster's long fur, it was just another feature that attracted them to this sweet bunny boy.  Debi reports that Duster has settled in well and is allowed plenty of free run throughout their home, as he is very well-behaved.  Our heartfelt thanks to the Gann family for adopting from HRS and giving Duster a wonderful new home!

Laurie and Anthony are completely charmed by him and we are glad they came back to HRS when time to adopt. Many thanks for giving Pepper a new home and for supporting HRS!

New San Diego residents, Jessica and Chris contacted HRS when their bunny's companion passed away.  Little boy, Dreamer, was feeling lonely so they knew they should get him a new bunny friend.  Dreamer came to our August adoption day where he met many nice bunny girls. Luckily for us, he was pretty specific about who he liked and who he didn't. It made our job easier!  And, who he liked was Hannah (left).  So lucky Hannah found a wonderful new home and bunny companion.  Many thanks to Chris and Jessica for adopting from HRS. We wish Dreamer and Hannah many blissful years together.

Mary and Earnest had been thinking about adopting a bunny for some time. After doing research on the Internet, they found the House Rabbit Society and we invited them to visit us and learn more about rabbits as companion animals.  During their visit, Mary was especially drawn to a little brown Rex girl, Justine.  And Justine seemed to also like Mary and Earnest. But, more research was needed so Mary and Earnest went home to think about it some more.  Over the next two weeks, as they discussed whether a rabbit was the right pet for them, Mary couldn't forget about little Justine.  So, once they got the 'all clear' from their apartment management, they made an appointment for the next adoption day and came back to adopt their little bun girl.  Now named Penelope, our little girl is happy in her new home, exploring, dancing, and enjoying the company of her new bunny parents.  Congratulations on your wonderful new home, Justine!  And, many thanks to Mary and Earnest for adopting through HRS.

Handsome boy, Sampson, has a wonderful new home!  Dana and her daughter had been trying for some time, to find the perfect bunny boy for their girl, Luna, and for the family.  Luna met several different bunnies but none suited her well.  Until she met Sampson.  She cuddled up to him and thought he was the handsomest bun boy she'd ever seen? (Well, we think that's what she was trying to tell us.)  Sampson is now getting settled into his new home where he has become friends with the entire family -even their dog!  His new family adores him and is so excited to have him as part of the family.  Congratulations, Sampson!  We wish you and your new family many wonderful years together.

BonBon and Starburst are bunny sisters who were adopted together at a recent HRS adoption day.  Hiro & Yvonne contacted HRS looking for a bonded pair of young bunnies for their family.  These pretty bunny girls are a good match for them and now have a wonderful new home! Thank you, Hiro & Yvonne, for adopting from HRS. We wish you many years of happiness with your new rabbit companions

Teeny bun girl, Lola, found her wonderful new bunny parents at our June 29th adoption day.  Joel & Kapualani, an experienced bunny family, came to find a bonded bunny pair to adopt.  When Lola caught their eye, however, they discovered just the bun they had in mind!  Lola is doing wonderfully in her new home and we've received several updates and photos. Her mom & dad are currently searching for a companion for her, to complete their bunny duo. Many thanks to Joel & Kapualani for adopting from HRS and giving Lola a loving new home!

Little girl, Licorice (front) was adopted by HRS supporter, Joseph Sanchez, as a companion to his bunny boy, Little Al Gore. They hit it off immediately and are now going through the bonding process at home.  "Little Al" is happy to have a new friend to keep him company and we appreciate Joseph contacting HRS when it came time to adopt.  Congratulations! We wish you many happy years together.

Lovely Jenni (right) was adopted at our June 29th adoption day, by the Cerwin family.  Their bun boy, Rascal, was missing his companion who had recently died so they brought him to HRS to find a new friend.  Rascal and Jenni hit it off right away and were very snuggly!  They are doing very well at home and the Cerwin family loves their new bunny girl.  Congratulations, Jenni!  After 2 years in foster care you finally have your wonderful "forever" home.

Charlie (right) was recently adopted through HRS as a companion to former foster bunny, Starr.  She lost her bunny friend a few months ago and needed a new companion.  Starr and Charlie got along well during their meeting and are going through the bonding process at home.  We thank the Cejo family for adopting from HRS and wish them many happy years with Charlie.

After four years in shelters and foster care, Maggie Mae has found her forever home!  With a loving family, and a sweet bunny husbun, Maggie now has what she has dreamed of.  Lot of pets, plenty of run time, and a companion to share her life in a safe and loving home.  The Hoch family has our undying gratitude for seeing the beauty in Maggie as we have. In her they will have a constant and loving companion.  Thank you for opening your hearts and your home to our Maggie Mae. We wish you much happiness Miss Maggie!

Our recent adoption day was a happy event for HRS foster bunnies, Jeffrey and Little Pea.  Both bunnies had an appointment to meet the Olmstead family who had come to HRS to find a new rabbit companion.  The family fell in love with both bunnies and couldn't decide which to adopt. Because they were interested in having a bonded pair, we tried putting the two bunnies together and they did great! No conflict at all and Little Pea was very comfortable in the company of shy young Jeffrey.  In their new home the bunnies are enjoying a sunny corner location in their roomy x-pen with a Cottontail Cottage and new toys.  They are living the spoiled life!  Just as it should be... Many thanks to the Olmstead family for giving these two sweet bunnies a wonderful new home!

Pretty Lorna Doone found her bunny love at our recent HRS adoption day.  Charlie (left) had recently lost his companion and was feeling blue. His mom, Kendra, contacted HRS to find him a new bunny girl to love. Kendra brought Charlie to our June 15th adoption day where he met several nice bunny girls but was immediately "taken" with Lorna Doone.  He snuggled in close and began grooming her right away.  It was one of those rare "love at first sight" meetings.  Kendra reports that the bunnies are doing well and bonded immediately. They are already sharing a cage and run time together.  Many thanks to Kendra for adopting from HRS and for giving sweet Lorna Doone a new home. Congratulations to the happy bunny couple!

Little sisters, Nutmeg & Ginger found their perfect new home with Tracy and Chad.  These silly little bun girls have been waiting a while for the right home and now they've found it!  Experienced bun mom, Tracy, and new dad Chad, are thrilled to have these sweet bunny girls to call their own.  They set up a wonderful new living area for them which includes two x-pens, a Cottontail Cottage, a willow tunnels, toys and more!  Boy are they going to get really spoiled!  Many thanks to Tracy and Chad for giving our little girls a wonderful new home. We wish you many happy years with Nutmeg & Ginger.

Velvet & Dancer are two lucky bunnies!  Both came from difficult situations in local shelters where they were not thriving. Velvet was the first to be taken into the wonderful care of foster parents, Antonella and Donovan.  She was combative, cage protective, and didn't want to be touched by humans.  Within two short months she became sweet, loving, social and loved nothing more than to run and play, and receive endless pets from Donovan.  When little Dancer came into HRS foster care, he was skittish and scared.  What he needed most was a companion.  He was introduced to foster bun Velvet and they became comfortable with each other right away. Now, they are inseparable. They do everything together and are attentive, loving, and closely bonded companions.  Happily for both, they also are living in the loving home they needed, now adopted by their foster parents.  We know this is the best home for them and that they will have many happy years with Donovan & Antonella.  Stories like theirs is what makes our mission so worthwhile; two bunnies in crisis, abandoned at shelters, now in a loving home that provides for all they could need and receiving love in return.

Little Benny boy (white bunny) found his new lady love in HRS sanctuary bunny, Ditto. You may remember Ditto from last year's plea for donations for her hip surgery.  Ditto has congenital splay leg and can't walk normally so she was made a sanctuary bunny and is being cared for HRS volunteer, Tina M.  Ditto was bonded to one of her sisters, but sadly the sister passed away during her spay surgery,  So Ditto needed a new companion.  Benny was rescued from a high-kill Los Angeles shelter where he'd been for some time, ill with an upper respiratory infection.  In fact, volunteers flew to LA in a private plane to pick him up!  He was a very important passenger.. Two months after coming into foster care Benny was well enough to introduce to Ditto and it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!  Pictures above are from their initial meeting. You can see that Benny and Ditto were immediately comfortable and could not tear themselves away from each other.  A HAPPY ENDING!  Congratulations to both Benny & Ditto on finding their life partner and the happiness that goes with it. Many thanks to Tina for adopting Benny as a companion to comfort her sanctuary bunny, Ditto. You are a great bunny mom!

Sweet older boy, Cocoa (left) was adopted by HRS volunteers Donna & Ryan, to be a companion to their bunny girl, Bun Bun.  As you can see from her expression, she was not impressed!  Regardless of her indifference, Cocoa is doing well with his new family, including new 'bunny wrangler' Nathan, Donna & Ryan's one-year old son.  He and Cocoa have become good buddies! Bun Bun and Cocoa live harmoniously in the home, one upstairs and one down.  With more time and some bonding assistance, we think Bun Bun will eventually come around.  Many thanks to Donna & Ryan (and Nathan!) for giving Cocoa a loving and "forever" home.

Pretty Rex girl, Lia (on left) was taken into HRS foster care because she was not doing well at the shelter.  She was extremely cage protective and would try to bite the staff.  But once you held her, she would "melt" and soak up all the lovely petting.  Luckily for Lia, Buddy's mom was looking for a companion for him and heard that Rex's often do well with other Rex bunnies when it comes to bonding.  Buddy had been looking for a bunny girlfriend but didn't like any of the choices his mom had introduced in the past.  So she made an appointment for him to meet Lia and the rest is history! As you can see, they are quite content together.  Congratulations to Lia & Buddy, and many thanks to Sandi C for adopting from HRS!

Little Elvis Parsley found a happy new home and bunny girlfriend when Janette contacted HRS.  Fifi, Janette's little girl bun, recently lost her companion and needed a new friend to love.  When Fifi and Janette came to meet bunny boys, little Elvis was the clear choice.  Though they are still working on their bonding, Elvis and Fifi are good company for each other and Elvis has a wonderful new home. Thank you, Janette, for adopting again from HRS.

Shaunna Rose and her family saw Candy and Cody online and thought they would make a perfect addition to their family.  Sure enough, when they came to meet the bunnies, Cody loved the whole family.  Candy was a little shy with the kids but Shaunna teaches her children how to be gentle with the bunnies. She is also teaching Candy how to get more used to the kids.  It sounds like Candy and Cody are two lucky bunnies to have found such a wonderful family.

Bun was very sad, he had recently lost his companion. His bunny mom. Nicole Goss, a wonderful volunteer for HRS and for EHS, wanted to find him a new lady love. She heard about Aspen and thought Aspen might be the one to make Bun happy again. Nicole took Bun to meet Aspen, and it was a match made in Heaven.  Thank you, Nicole, for adopting !

Little Jake found a wonderful new bunny mom and home with Brooke, after she contacted HRS to find a new bunny friend.  Brooke had been thinking of adopting a rabbit and mentioned it to one of her co-workers, HRS volunteer John Koivula, who was more than happy to share information about caring for house rabbits.  She studied the materials John gave her and spent time on the Internet finding out more.  After visiting the HRS adoption website, Brooke saw Jake and felt he might be a good match for her.  After talking with Brooke we agreed!  So an introduction was arranged and it was a match!  Congratulations to little Jake on finding a wonderful new home and many thanks to Brooke for adopting from HRS.  We wish you many happy years together!

Little Bettina found her perfect "bunny slave" when she met Tia at our most recent adoption day.  Tia did a lot of research in advance and knew she wanted a bunny with a little more "attitude."  We thought Bettina would be perfect!  Tia met several wonderful foster bunnies, but as we guessed they might, Tia and Bettina got along very well and each really enjoyed meeting the other.  Congratulations to Bettina  on finding her wonderful new home after so much time in the shelter and foster care,  and thank you Tia for contacting HRS to adopt.  We wish you many wonderful years together.

Silly boy, Skipper, found a great new home with Bianca and Kevin.  They contacted HRS because they missed the sound of little bunny feet padding around their home.  A long time bunny mom, Bianca had good experience with bunnies and was looking for a foster who might have been waiting quite a while for a new home.  They visited an HRS adoption day where they met several foster rabbits and really made the connection with little Skipper.  Congratulations, Skipper, on your wonderful new home!  Many thanks to Bianca and Kevin for adopting from HRS.

Little Daniel  - now Tobey - found a wonderful new friend in older boy, Chopper.  Tobey (the black & white bunny) is an older boy whose family relinquished him to the shelter and he is 9 years old!  So sad....   We were so happy to have the opportunity to introduce Tobey to another older bun boy, Chopper. The boys get along great, love to hang out together in Chopper's "castle" (see right photo) and run around the family room.  Their mom and dad, Tamara & Scott, are so happy to have these two little older boys to snuggle and sit on their laps to watch TV.  Many thanks to Tamara & Scott for adopting from HRS and for giving sweet Tobey a loving new home.  He really deserves to be pampered in his older years.
