What I’m Working On: Update on Nate Berkus + Woody Allen
Okay, so I realize this isn’t the most exciting of pictures but I wanted to share with you the paint colors I ended up selecting for my client in Old Town, Alexandria. Remember him? The Nate Berkus meets Woody Allen bachelor pad townhome?
Because of the location of the home (Old Town), I instantly went to the Historic Color section of the Ben Moore paint fan. The Historic Colors are my favorite. I love the muted tones. So, let me introduce you to the color palette:
Clockwise from the left:
Sag Harbor Gray: I wanted something greige (gray and beige) for the main areas of the house. Most of the home is open and connected so I had to be sure the color was perfect. Because there is a lot of it. This color runs from the Foyer all the way up to the 4th floor bedroom. Under the chair rail in the living/Dining area, we cut the Sag Harbor Gray with 50% white. It’s subtle yet really sharp.
Boothbay Gray: This is the color of my client’s Master Bedroom. I love this color. It looks amazing off the greige hallway at the top of the stairs. I plan to bring in more this cooler gray tone throughout the house. I like the way the 2 grays work together. The blue/gray and the greige.
Galapagos Turquoise: This is the color of the office that is located immediately off the Foyer. I wanted something large and in charge for this room since it’s the first thing you see when you walk in the front door. It looks much more turquoise in real life. Not so blue. Side note: I used this color in my bathroom and it looks WAY better in my clients home. Boo.
Cork: This is the color in the Kitchen. I also used a color 2 shades lighter, Rich Cream, for the 2nd floor guest bedroom. I didn’t want the house to be crazy colorful with too many different shades going on. This deep yellow and turquoise will be accent colors throughout the home in art, rugs, pillows, etc.
I had stopped by last week to check on the paint progress but have not seen the house completely finished. I can’t wait. I am also dying to hear my client’s reaction to the space as he gave me full control of picking the final colors without him. Can you believe that? So much fun and oh so intimidating. I did discuss my initial ideas with him (and then I emailed him the colors I settled on) but he did not see the finished product until he arrived in town yesterday. Talk about a big reveal! I am meeting with him this morning so I better get going! Fingers crossed!

Thanks guys! Success! It looks awesome. Especially the Sag Harbor Gray and my client kept using the word “terrific” over and over again 🙂 No pics yet – house is FULL of moving boxes.
And what other updates are you waiting for Jess – I will be sure to get on those for you!!
