Come and join us round the table for lunchtime stories, poetry and song – tender and rambunctious, urgent and hopeful – from people in Cornwall who’ve experienced homelessness.
Seen/Heard is a performative meal to be shared, with moments of beauty, a menu of stories, a difficult choice or two and extra helpings of rhythm and song, all created by our brilliant participants over the last few months. Small amounts of food will be served as part of the performance.
Learn the recipes for their lives, hear songs in which secrets are told.
Consider what it means to belong and what home can become,
when all that separates us is circumstances.
How would you like to be seen?
How would you like to be heard?
This one-off event takes place at 1.30pm at Chapter House, Truro Cathedral, on Friday 24th May.
This is free event – Donations welcome – BOOK TICKETS: www.tickettailor.com/events/wildworks/1260677
And look out for our cassette players containing stories from the group which are currently on a magical mystery tour around the county. Follow #SeenHeard to find out more.
Seen/Heard has been co-created by Sarah Levinsky, Vicky Abbott, Karen Pirie, Jodie Walton, Rhys Wynne Jones, and the Relentlessly Burdened Poet, with design support from Mydd Pharo and food by Lou from OST Eatery.
Seen/Heard has been developed in partnership with St Petrocs and is part of Wildworks Theatre’s Hello Stranger project led by Wildworks and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

A prayer for exam season, shared by Tom Hart, Youth President 🙏
Gracious God, we thank you for always being with us.
We thank you for making us the way that we are, all having different gifts and skills.
Lord, we pray that you will have your guiding hand over us as we complete exams, submit coursework and have practical assessments.
These times can be daunting for everyone, students, teachers and the family and friends of all involved. Grant us reassurance that through this time you will be with each and every one of us in the preparation, during and after assessments. And Lord we pray, when we are in times of doubt and worry, you provide us with the courage to ask for help, so we may look after ourselves.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen

Unusually, I am placing a second post here tonight. I have felt burdened for so many people today, and have spent most of it praying. I crafted this prayer this morning and invite you to pray it with me for those whom the Lord has laid on your heart.
———
Lord,
When I feel weak, please be my strength.
When I am weary, be my rest.
When I am anxious, be my peace.
When I am sad, be my joy.
When I am lonely, be my companion.
When I am gripped by doubt, give me faith.
When I miss my family, sit with me.
When I am in pain, be my healer.
When I am impatient, be my patience.
When I am confused, still me.
When I am angry, soothe me.
When I feel broken, hold me.
When the future feels uncertain, keep my eyes on you.
When the waves crash in, lift me up.
When the storms rage, calm the waves.
When my heart is broken, mend me.
In everything be my all in all.
I need you more than I can say
But thank you that you love me more than I could ever understand.
You are my enough.
Let me rest in your rest
And stand in your strength
Amen

Today is Maundy Thursday, sometimes referred to as Holy Thursday or Sheer Thursday which is part of our celebration of Easter. It marks the night of the Last Supper as told in the Bible.
It pays homage to Jesus Christ’s last meal with his disciples, before handing himself over to be crucified.
The word Maundy comes from the Latin word for ‘command’, referencing instructions that Jesus gave to his disciples at the Last Supper.
At the Last Supper, Jesus commanded that people should love one another, he then washed the feet of his disciples as an act of kindness.

Maundy Thursday is a day to remember the disciples gathering around Jesus before his death. We often remember the story as that of the Last Supper, and a story that ushers in betrayal. But underneath, it is also a story about love and grace and how we relate to those who want us harmed.
Jesus washes the disciples’ feet. Every disciple. Jesus also predicts his death and the betrayal of Judas. Yet he washes Judas’ feet. Jesus knew what Judas would do, but still, he breaks bread with him. Jesus extends love and the possibility of change and redemption all the way to the end. He never treats Judas as ‘the enemy’, as worthless, as someone whose dignity and humanity can just be erased or disregarded. Even in betrayal and pain, Jesus attends to the humanity of the one who hurts him.
My prayer for the world today is that this same attention to one another’s dignity and humanity would be at the core of our actions as people and as nations.
“Now before the festival of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.” — John 13.1

Thought that this upcoming retreat on the Cornish Saint St. Ia might be of interest to some of your group members, looks interesting: Journeying on a Leaf:Retreat day on the Cornish Saint Ia 11am-4pm (10.30-11am Coffee) April 12th 2024 Cost £50 Location: Chacewater Village Hall, Church Hill, Chacewater, Truro, Cornwall TR48PZ. There is free parking very near the venue. Saint Ia of Cornwall literally missed the boat when her companions left Ireland, heading for Hayle in Cornwall. Fearing crossing the sea alone, she prayed and saw a small leaf floating on the water. She watched it and it grew larger and larger. She trusted God, the leaf became her coracle and carried her across the ocean.Ia’s story will be the creative ground from which to draw from in order to deepen your own spirituality. Using guided imaginative prayer, you will explore the journey of surrender, solitude, the leafy coracle and the wild elemental ocean, wind and sky. Her incredible odyssey across the sea will also offer beautiful material for your own creative writing. You'll be able to explore the idea of ‘journeying with nature’ through contemplation and art; working with an artist, you will have the opportunity to work with leaves and create patterns in clay – your work will be later fired in a kiln and sent to you as a beautiful reminder of the day and your own creativity. And slowing down and walking mindfully, you'll enter a leaf labyrinth, relaxing into a slow walking prayer on your journey to the Centre, to God…All are welcome and no writing or art experience is needed.
