Triumph Dolomite Sprint

BFR 812L

21/10/07

Went to have a look at this 1973 Dolly Sprint in Emsworth. This is one of the first 2000 Dolly Sprints made & is in pretty good condition...so I bought it.

My new project arrives.

10/11/07

I started by taking the engine out. The gearbox & propshaft were already out, so it only took 10 mins. Then I removed the dash, wiring loom, front lights & a few other bits & pieces.

17/11/07

Stripped all the doors & pulled back the edges of the vinyl roof using a hot air gun to reveal the surface rust below. Sorted all the trim & glass ready to go in the loft for a few months.

Got to grips with the first repair of the project, the bulkhead.

08/12/07

Both bottoms of the front wings are shot but I salvaged the panels needed from other wings I had that were good in this area, for repair panels.

The Sprint on it's way to the body shop.

09/03/08

Prep. work well underway at the body shop.

01/04/08

Getting there: I coat of etch primer & 2-3 coats of high build primer.

What with one thing & another (computer crashing & new Windows install required) I haven't kept my website up-to-date. Project BFR is now finished!
