Mona the Vampire

A couple of days after we last saw her, Mona started to feel awfully peculiar…

Go Go Gadget Laser Eyes!

To the Batmobile!

Life is like a hurricane, it’s a duck blur…

Oh no, wait a minute.  This is the cartoon character you’re looking for.

Anyway, naming hilarity aside, the other reason I made Mona a vampire was because they, like mummies, get a much longer lifespan and this might possibly give her a chance to fulfil her LTW.  Maybe.

Trying to do a whole bunch of professions at once continues to be a complete nightmare and one I really do not recommend.  Pollo won’t do anything I ask him unless I watch him like a hawk, and even then sometimes he’ll find an excuse.  Take this shot.  He was meant to be interviewing Brady, but no, he had to do the ‘I’m stuck’ wavy dance for no good reason.

And then GaGa just stands around, waiting for textures to load when I try and send her to emergencies.  On that note – has anyone else noticed major lag in texture loading times since the latest patch?  It’s ridiculous.

Occasionally she does get out on a job and sometimes uses this nifty fire hose…

…or wanders about casually in the flames.

Remember how, several chapters ago, all the Dayes were unhappy?  Things haven’t changed much.  Micromanaging so many sims, especially in the professions, is hard, and several of them at any one time will be in yellow, red or orange.  They end up going to work and school exhausted or hungry and then half the time I forget to moodlet manage them (and of course, I can’t moodlet manage the girls).  SIGH.

Oh, and if I don’t obsessively watch GaGa, she misses a job and loses performance.  Pollo is still mardy because he can’t get promotion (it seems to be pretty hard for Private Eyes) and my two cops rarely get any reports written.  Why didn’t I just do one profession and stick the others into business or some other dull career I haven’t done yet?

Still, someone is doing OK at their job.  I gave Mona the observant trait so she can discover three of her clients’ traits immediately, and then she’s been making over the house accordingly.  This guy is called Richie Striker, so we took a punt that his name was as much of a giveaway as the other Twinbrook and Bridgeport residents’ and installed a load of sports stuff in his makeover.  He loved it and gave us our first perfect score.  Oh well, one down, ninety-nine to go.

Mona is taking to getting thirsty sometimes but it’s pretty easy to deal with when you have plasma packs in the fridge – they just appear there like juice does.

Now she’s a vampire, I let her and Pepperoni fulfil a want they’d both had for ages and conceive the final (probably) member of Gen 8.

She then went back to the drawing-board (eyethangyew) and got herself promoted to level 10.  Whoop!

Speaking of Gen 8, the girls don’t have much of interest to do right now, other than for some reason dream of heartbreak.

They’re both painting a lot right now as I can’t think of much else for them to do given their destinies are all about drinking, sculpting and having babies, none of which are kid friendly activities.

Mona shouldn’t look so fed up, given she’s just had a volcanic clay treatment at the spa.  However, she’s walking around with another two day ‘publicly disgraced’ moodlet for, get this, woohooing ‘with an occult’.  I can’t believe how judgemental the sims are!

She’s also got bad moodlets for being outside, being tired and being thirsty, but I can’t send her home to deal with any of that yet…

…because she has to get us a key to the city.  With Mozzy’s key to Twinbrook and now this one, we’re raking them in.  At this point, when I saw Gar Goyle, I remembered that I’d populated the town with a few familiar faces…

Bellamy Heart (from The Heart Legacy) was very excited…

…as was a certain someone.

SimRad: ‘Yes!  Another point!’

The poor girl was not only in the red for lots of things, the townies that were cheering her seconds before, took to booing her as they remembered she’d woohooed WITH AN OCCULT.  So she then got a negative moodlet for being recognised to add to her troubles.  She was also very thirsty at this point.

Seeing as it was my fault she was in this mess, I got her to drink from me to at least sate her thirst.

Pepperoni: Why am I in this outfit?

I dunno, I guess you’re at that stage in your career where you wear other people’s work outfits or something.  Now go and moodlet manage your poor wife, who’s collapsed from tiredness.

I feel so sorry for her.

No sooner had we moodlet managed her back to health when she a) went into labour and b) got another negative celebrity pop-up saying she was caught biting someone.  Poor, poor Mona.

Anyway, this is Puddle Daye.  For some reason I was actually able to choose one of his traits (I’d had no hope for that).  The game locked in excitable and I gave him artistic, both of which I think Bramble has.  Yeah, Gen 8 aren’t going for diversity, really.  BUT, I looked at his status using Twallan’s Master Controller and it turns out he is not only a ghost, he’s also a vampire!  Yes!

Join us next time to see if I can get any way towards bringing the mess that is Generation 7 back on the rails and to see if I can stop neglecting Gen 8…

  1. Nice going with the vampire ghost baby! Now if you can marry him to a simbotte and give them triplets, it will be interesting to see how their kids turn out! 😉 Since you make the tough things in the game look easy!

    Seriously, I”m very impressed!

    ~waving at SimRad~

    • Oooh, now that could be fun…

  2. Vampire Ghost Baby! Triple bonus score! 😀

    • Bing! Bing! Bing! I LOVE DB’s idea of getting a simbot involved… and then maybe if we can get simbot/vampire/ghost babies in Gen 9, we can try for simbot/vampire/ghost/mummies in Gen 10…

Not that I want to sway the heir vote at this early stage or anything (pffft, ‘course I do. The girls are boring!)

      • You would mummify a simbot/vampire ghost for that, or try for it through birth? I think if that’s the route being taken heir votes are pretty much set for the next couple gens!

  3. Wow! I didn’t think a ghost vampire combination was even possible. I look forward to seeing how this tiny nooboo turns out!

    • Me too! This is the fun of trying everything, right?!

  4. To be truthful, I never realised how much of the game I missed simply because I get stuck in a rut and have my sims do the same things over and over again. The Dayes have inspired me to explore further and try everything I can. Thanks so much for leading us into uncharted Sims 3 territory. 🙂

    • That was the reason why I decided to do this – because I found the same things in my own playing.

  5. i don’t know if anyone’s told you this or if you already know, but if you use the testingcheatsenabled true cheat and the press and hold the ‘CTRL’ key on your keyboard, then click on a moodlet, it completely disappears. that’s how I keep all my sims happy! Works like a charm.

anywho, I love vampires and I love ghosts. So I’m extremely jealous of your ghost vampire. I didn’t know it was possible. Now I’m going to go get one. 😀

    • Other than installing the no reaction to vamps/mummies/ghosts mod I don’t use cheats for this story, and I wouldn’t even use that were it not for it affecting another story so badly – it would defeat the point to cheat in this legacy.

But I am soooo looking forward to seeing how the ghost/vamp thing turns out.

  6. Haha I loved the comments of Mona turning into a vampire. Also, a vampire ghost baby!! It’s like an early Christmas.

    • 😀

  7. Poor Mona! I remember how hard it was when one of my Sims became a vampire, and she got the “Publicly Disgraced” moodlet for biting someone and her husband got the “woohooing with an occult” notice.

HystericalParoxysm at ModTheSims has a mod to change the disgraceful actions: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=424239

    (Sorry for not commenting for a while… ): )

    • Oh no, I don’t want to change them. I wouldn’t have gotten rid of the vampire/simbot/mummy/ghost freakouts if it wasn’t disrupting another game as well as this one. It’d kind of defeat the point of this legacy to remove them. But good to know it exists in case I ever want it for another story.

Poor Mona, though, she can’t get a break.

  8. Nice, a vampire ghost/ghost vampire! I have to say that’s an amazing combination 😀 Can’t wait to see how that goes!

And all the professions would have me stabbing things! Good job at least attempting it!

    • Me neither, although I don’t know if the vampire thing is full blown vamp yet or a hidden trait that’s not the full deal. We’ll see in time I guess.

      Stupid professions… grr…

  9. Yay onm a vampire ghost! Puddle is such a great name!

    • I can’t wait until I have time to play with him! Just a few more days now…
