Howard fills Kevin in on the criteria for the drugs trial and tasks him with sourcing potential candidates from the other doctors' lists. Heston sighs as he catches Kevin bragging to a mate about the trial, so when Kevin asks him about potential candidates, Heston wonders what exactly he has done about it himself. Heston sends him to see Hugh, who is a similar age to Kevin but whose life has been blighted by lupus.

Hugh is naturally very interested and Kevin promises to do what he can to get Hugh on the trial. However, he worries that he might have made a promise he can't keep.

Meanwhile, Freya has taken the afternoon off to pay her aunt Patti a long overdue visit. Despite Patti's best attempts to hide it, her lupus has escalated and Freya hates to see her aunt struggle. We learn that Patti stopped smoking a few years ago and credits Freya with helping her.

Elsewhere, Karen acts suspiciously nice to Daniel all day and he does his best to ignore it. However, his curiosity gets the better of him. Karen admits that she promised her neighbours a Botox party hosted by Daniel. He point blank refuses until Karen shows him the neighbours' average earnings and disposable income. The potential to make a lot of money proves a powerful lure and Daniel agrees.

Also today, Howard isn't happy about being treated as Zara's lackey and Heston tasks Daniel with having a word with her, while Mrs Tembe deals with a fellow churchgoer who is driven to the edge by leading a double life.
