  • As a site based CM - responsible for delivering the project safely, to programme and budget with a high degree of quality.
  • Managing the preparation of Health and Safety documentation, CDM literature, vetting Contractor's Risk assessments and Method Statements.
  • Practical input into the build programme together with integration of design and information programmes.
  • Responsible for site set up, locations of site office, material/ plant compounds, welfare facilities, pedestrian access and vehicle routes.
  • Liaison with the client and the client's team.
  • Ensuring accurate records of activities and assisting in reviewing works package contractor's applications.
  • Co-ordination of works package contractors including M&E and finishing trades.
  • Extremely conscious of all aspects of Health, Safety and the Environment within the projects.

 

Personal Skills

  • A wealth of experience in construction materials and techniques together with an innate awareness of the logistics of the build process.
  • A naturally ebullient person, possessing very good communication skills.
  • Having been self-employed for a number of years (since 1993), I am flexible as to where I work and the duties I undertake.

UK PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

May 2017 - October 2018
Site based Construction Manager managing the redevelopment of facilities at Exeter City football club including two new spectator stands.
Project was delivered on time, in budget and no accidents.

July 2016 - September 2016
Short term contract managing the structural steel frame and envelope package for the new Gloucester Rowing Club H.Q.

January 2016 - May 2016
Site based Construction Manager at RAF Brize Norton managing a structural steel and cladding package on a Balfour Beatty managed site. Approximately 300 tonnes of steelwork and associated cladding. Prime responsibility for logistics and health and safety. Prime responsibility for programme and quality.

September 2010 - March 2012
Site based Construction Manager for the construction of a new Visitor’s Centre at Chedworth Roman Villa, the client being the National Trust.The project consisted of a unique timber structure built over Roman mosaics and artifacts, a very challenging project with a high level of coordination required with the client's team of archaeologists and conservators.
A quality project, built with tight tolerances.

2007 April - Gloucester Rugby Football Club - Self-employed Construction Manager
Site based managing the construction of a new spectator stand and hospitality suites. The project consisted of vibro and driven piling systems, structural steel frame with pre-cast concrete terracing, insulated cladding and a high standard of finishing in the corporate suites. The stand was completed and available for the 2007/08 premiership season.

2006 - Tesco Wick Scotland - Self-employed Structural frame and envelope Package Manager
Constructing the first “green” Tesco store. Works comprised of the fabrication and erection of Glulam columns and beams together with timber wall panels.

2005/2006 - Cambridge re-cycling Services - Self-employed Construction Manager
CRS offer a turnkey household waste re-cycling operation. I managed the construction of two plants for them. Both plants involved general civils, structural steelwork/ cladding and pre-cast concrete. I also managed the installation of crushing machines and mechanical handling equipment.

1997/2005 - PGA - Self-employed Construction Manager
PGA is a construction management company. Projects undertaken in this period included:

OVERSEAS PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

2019 – Site Manager – French Guiana – South America
Based on the European Space facility in French Guiana. Managing the assembly of bespoke gantry doors. The doors are built of structural steel members, assembled horizontally on the ground then lifted into place into the 94 mtr high structure. 4 doors in total, the heaviest being 40 tonnes. Once in place the doors are cladded with a single skin profiled sheet. Project caters for needs associated with the Ariane 6 programme.

2013/2017 - Self-employed Construction Manager
Working for a UK company who are specialists in the manufacture/design and installation of extremely large aircraft hangar doors. Projects were based in Dubai, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. Each project involved the installation of approximately 600 tonnes of structural steelwork plus cladding and M and E installation. Last project was in Muscat - Oman. Completed successfully May 2017. These Middle East projects were completed “in and around” the UK projects detailed above.

2012 /2013 -1 year contract Saudi Arabia - Logistics Manager
Sourcing premises, equipment and staff for a company new to the region. Managing the construction of site offices and production units relating to a large package of works at the airport in Jeddah.

2009 - August 2010 EE/Al Naboodah (Qatar) - Self-employed Envelope Package Manager
I was asked if I would move to Doha to assist in managing the roofing, cladding and curtain walling/envelope packages, together with secondary steelwork on three extremely large aircraft hangars.

2007 November - EE/Al Naboodah (Dubai) - Self-employed Construction Manager
I joined EE in the UAE as a site based construction manager. Initially I worked in Abu Dhabi, at the airport, managing cladding and structural steel packages.
I then moved to Dubai and site managed the construction of 4 hybrid major roof structures a mixture of 30mtr long Glulam timber beams, structural steelwork and standing seam cladding at Dubai Sports City.
