Like the title says, is there a facebook mod that will tell you who viewed your profile? Don't ask why I need it
Facebook seems very protective with API and development stuff. If you look around the tech blogs there are some stories about it.
Hi Googles76 To answer your question, when you go on your facebook profile in "privacy" and then in "News Feed and Mini-Feed Privacy" you will get the following message: News Feed and Mini-Feed will never publish stories about: * Pokes * Messages * Whose profile you view * Whose photos you view * Whose notes you read * Groups and Events you decline to join * People you reject as friends * People you remove from your friends * Notes and photos you delete So the third point answers your question.
There is no way to track who has viewed your profile, the website unfaced requires you to click a link and go back to their website. You could make an app where you clicked a link and it tracked it without leaving the facebook profile, but it's not realistic, because you can't be sure that any user is going to click the link. Think of it this way: When you view a facebook profile, all the applications you see (and therefore including any trackers) are actually cache and static. They don't run any code by default and therefore there is no way of logging profile views. Even images are cached. The apps seen on the profile only do run code when a button is clicked, it is at this point we can track who has viewed the profile, but it also means that the user is only known if they want to make themselves known.
I used to actually know of a program that would track visitors to your FB profile but wow this was a long time ago.
Go to the facebook group. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=33806918806 and follow these instructions it worked for me gives me detailed description of who viewed how often and even from what location. It uses the same kind of GUI as Google analytics's.
The way to do this Make an application or buy one Place it on your homepage profile Each time a visitor comes to your profile the connect to FB API and then to your own server files like tracker.php and with that file you call things like FB ID and FB Photo ID Make a table and variable that each time this user comes onto my profile with this FB ID then do is add a counter..
As Andy Peters has said, the application is "cache and static." This means that there is no opportunity to connect to any API. If I understand him correctly, "applications" on profiles are served by Facebook, and not any code written by third party developer. They are only snapshots of applications and not interactive. However, if security isn't tight (although I'm sure it is) there is the possibility that you could insert some client side code into the user's profile, which could then allow you to log information about the viewers computer...
probably many people are searching for this there are some BIG facebook secrets but definitely I am not going to post them on a public forum ... obviously
