SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS PULL THE CHURCH TWO DIFFERENT WAYS

FOUR CHARIOTS BETWEEN TWO MOUNTAINS

"And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains {churches} were mountains of brass. In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; and in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my Lord? And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country {Babylon}; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country {Egypt}. And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country."--Zecharaih 6:1-8 (bold emphasis, braces added).

There are several symbols that need to be understood, the first of which is the "mountains." According to the Bible mountains symbolize churches, as noted below:

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house {church} shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it."--Isaiah 2:2 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"But in the last days it shall come to pass that the mountain of the house of the Lord {church} shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it."--Micah 4:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"The mountains in Zechariah's prophecy,...are seen to symbolize two governments, churches....Being of brass...the same symbolical material as that which the feet of Christ (Rev. 1:15) were shown to be (brass), it locates the mountains in the Christian era....The only such holy governments of God in the Christian era, one in the past and one in the future between which the path of the chariots lies, are the {apostolic} church of the Pentecost with the 120-Spirit-filled disciples, symbolized by the mountain to the chariot's right {past}, and the church at the second Pentecost (Joel 2:28,29, yet future) with the 144,000 Spirit-filled disciples standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb (Rev. 14:1), symbolized by the mountain to the chariot's left {future}."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 20:0 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Being composed of brass, the two mountains can never, in even the smallest part, be carried away by wind or flood. Matter not what betide them, they stand immovable....The valley lying between the two mountains (the space through which the chariots come forth), therefore denotes the period between the two holy church organizations which the mountains represent."--2 Tract, pg. 10:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

The first brass mountain in the Christian era represents the Christians in the Apostolic Church, who were born of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:1-4). It would have been long lasting and durable like brass if the hypocrite was kept out of the church (Mt. 3:7,8; Acts 5:1-10). According to Jesus' parable of wheat (saints) and tares (hypocrites) in Matthew 13:24,25,37,38, some Christians (after the death of the apostles) went to sleep spiritually, and the devil put false Christians into the church, which led to the period of the Dark Ages. Therefore, instead of the Christian church being one long brass mountain range (with no tares in it) during the entire New Testament Christian era, it is divided by the "valley" between the two pentecostal churches (mountains). This would symbolize the period of time when the wheat (saints) and tares (hypocrites) are commingled together in the churches, being symbolized by another symbolizm--"XXXfour chariots" (churches) led by "horses" (leaders).

Thus, the "mountains" (Zech. 6:1) and the "chariots" (Zech. 6:1) both symbolize churches, as does the "candlesticks" (Rev. 1:20) and the "woman" (Rev. 12:1,2,5). Do not think this is strange, because each symbol must show a different phase of God's church. How can a "candlestick" give birth to a man child like a "woman" (Rev. 12:5)? or how can an immovable "mountain" move and carry passengers like a "chariot" (Zech. 6:1)? It is obvious, then, that the "chariots," coming from between two mountains (pure churches), also symbolize God's church (not pure--mixed with wheat and tares) moving to proclaim a certain truth, and taking in passengers (members) who believe its message is from heaven. That, of course, is the reason why the angel told Zechariah about the "four chariots" and said that "these are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth" (Zech. 6:5).

"The angel's answer is positive. The chariots, He declared, are the Spirits of the heavens, Who stand before the Lord, and Who are sent to go to and fro through the earth. Plainly, then, these four teams {of horses} and chariots symbolize four messages (four Spirits) sent from God's presence. And since all the messages from God are carried to and fro through the earth by the Ministry and the Church, the chariots and their teams {of horses}, therefore, are seen to symbolize the church {ministers and laity} at work in four different periods {in the New Testament Christian era}."--2 Timely Greetings, No, 22, pg. 19:3 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Since the chariots are led by horses, the horses themselves must symbolize the chariot's (church's) leadership, and the passengers in the chariots must symbolize the laity {who go 'with' them}."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 21:3 (bold emphasis, braces added).

The first brass mountain (the apostolic Church) symbolizes the Christian Jews from Judah who were born of the Holy Ghost; therefore, the "four chariots" in the "valley" between the two brass mountains must also symbolize the Christian churches, but during the time when the wheat (saints) and the sinners (tares) are mixed. "Hence, these symbolisms stand for heaven-born messages carried by the church on earth." (2 Tr. 25). Consequently, these four churches (chariots) in the "valley" are the only ones that God recognizes as His church--the born-of-the-Spirit Christians (even though the tares are in their midst). The colors of the horses would identify who they are in the Christian era up to the latter days.

FIRST CHARIOT WITH RED HORSES

"In the first chariot {church} were red horses {leaders}; and in the second chariot black horses; and in the third chariot white horses; and in the forth chariot grisled and bay horses."--Zechariah 6:2,3 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"This symbolic prophecy is seen to corroborate history. It points out that the Christian church at first suffered martyrdom, shown by the color, red {horses}."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 21:6 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"'In the first chariot were red horses.' That the color red stands for bloodshed,' the Spirit of Prophecy bears out: 'As we were traveling along, we met a company...I noticed red as a border on their garments...I asked Jesus who they were. He said they were martyrs that had been slain for Him.'--Early Writings, pgs. 18,19. The red border on the garments of this company being emblematic of martyrdom, obviously, then, the red color of the 'horses' denotes the martyred leaders of the church before 538 A.D....Though the angel's answer discloses the specific directions which the black, white, grisled and bay horses went, it omits to make the slightest mention of the red horses, thus riveting the conclusion that the red horses were martyred and went nowhere so far as their final destination is concerned."--2 Tract, pgs. 26, 27 (bold emphasis, braces added).

It was not too long after the stoning {martyrdom} of Stephen (Acts 7:59,60) that "there was a great persecution against the church" (Acts 8:1). This was the beginning of a period of martyrdom that would not end until millions of Christians had sacrificed their lives. These Christian martyrs were the only ones in the first chariot with red horses that God recognized as His people, even though all the Jews, Pagans, Gentiles, and Catholics who killed them, thought they were God's people. Ever since the birth of Christianity (Acts 11:26) it has been Satan's determined purpose to destroy them, but he finally realized that they continued to prosper, in spite of the ever increasing martyrdom which they were suffering. Thus, he reversed his tactics and united the pagan heathens with the apostate Christians to destroy the Christians in Judah by his masterful deception--the Papal Rome confederacy during the Dark-Age period.

SECOND CHARIOT WITH BLACK HORSES

"So what the satanic power failed to do by persecution {and killing the red horses and the passengers in their chariot--martyrdom}, he accomplished by a sudden retreat. When the old dragon saw that he could not overthrow that spiritual house {Christianity} by persecution, he reversed the scheme and employed his power to undermine the apostolic foundation by donatives and various inducements to the pagans in favor of the Christians. As the pagans rushed to join the church, the current of apostasy turned against the Christians. Instead of the church Christianizing the world, the world {Papal Rome} paganized the church."--2 Shepherd's Rod, pg. 135:0 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Necessarily, then, there must be found in the Christian dispensation a backslidden Christian power (Israel) confederated with a pagan one (Syria), to the end of assimilating or annihilating the orthodox Christians (Judah). And the only such confederacy in the Christian era was the unholy union of Church and State {Papal Rome} which ruled during the Dark-Ages, and which sought the destruction of the 'born again,' who refused to depart from the Apostolic faith and submit to a Christian-Pagan (Israel-Syrian) confederacy."--14 Tract, pgs. 33, 34 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"This symbolic prophecy is seen to corroborate history. It points out that the Christian church at first suffered martyrdom, shown by the color, red {horses}. Then followed the Dark-Ages of religion {Papal Rome} when the Church was in captivity (black) {horses}."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pgs. 21, 22 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"'And in the second chariot [were] black horses.' Universally, the figurative significance of 'black' is bondage. So as the martyrdom of the early Christian church was followed by the Dark-Ages of religion {Papal Rome}, from 538 A.D. to 1798 A.D., it is very evident that the chariot with the black horses represents the church and its leadership during this long prophetic period in Ecclesiastic Roman bondage."--2 Tract, pg. 27:2 (brackets by Elijah) (bold emphasis, braces added).

"'The black horses...go forth into the north country' {Zech. 6:6}. And 'the north country' is the Biblical term for ancient Babylon, as is quickly seen from the following scriptures: '...saith the Lord God;...I will bring...Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon...from the north.' Ezek. 26:7....But as we are dealing with the fulfillment of prophecy in the New Testament era, the north country in this connection must be antitypical Babylon--Christianized Rome--where God's people during the New Testament period have gone."--2 Tract, pg. 28:0, 1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

The Christians in the chariot with black horses were held in spiritual bondage by the papacy during the Dark Age period of Papal Rome, but it was to be broken. God raised up Martin Luther in 1500, which began Ezekiel's 390-year "siege" against the Christian church--"Jerusalem" (Ezek. 4:1,2), which was held in bondage in Papal Rome; and six Reformation doctrines were given to the Christians, which exposed the errors of Catholicism. But they were contaminated by many private interpretations (baked on man's "dung"--Ezek. 4:12), which caused great confusion among the churches. Thus, the Christians in the chariot with black horses endured the papal bondage up to 1500, only to be led symbolically into the "north country" (Zech. 6:6; Ezek. 26:7) into a Babylon of confusion in the time of "Christianized Rome"--the papacy. Finally, by 1798 A.D., when the pope was taken captive, the Reformation had strengthened the power of the state, and the Dark-Age confederacy was broken by antitypical Assyria (the Protestant Nations--14 Tr. 34); wherein the Protestant Churches became Christian in name but pagan in practice, by keeping many of their holidays (christmas, easter, halloween, sunday, etc.). Even the days of the week and the months of the year are of pagan origin. Thus, the Christians lived during the martyrdom of Pagan Rome (chariot with red horses), and on to the spiritual bondage of Papal Rome (chariot with black horses), and then on to the day when the church-state confederacy of Papal Rome was broken by the Protestant Nations--"Christianized Rome" (12 Tr. 19), and the Christians gained religious freedom in the time of the next chariot with white horses.

THIRD CHARIOT WITH WHITE HORSES

"This symbolic prophecy is seen to corroborate history. It points out that the Christian church at first suffered martyrdom, shown by the color, red {horses}. Then followed the Dark-Ages of religion when the Church was in captivity (black) {horses}. Following these came the Protestant period, the period of religious freedom (white team) {of horses}."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pgs. 21, 22 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"And there were 'in the third chariot white horses.' Since black is significant of bondage, then white, being the opposite of black, must denote liberty. Accordingly, the white horses with their chariot must be symbolical of the church following her 1260 year period of Roman bondage. Said the angel to Zechariah: 'The white {horses} go forth after' the black horses, to the north country {Babylon}. The white chariot {of horses} therefore represents a free church, carrying a heaven-born message to the north country {Protestant Churches in a Babylon of confusion} shortly after 1798 A.D., in a time of liberty. The only such message found on record is that of the Millerite movement, of which we read:"--2 Tract, pgs. 28, 29 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"'To William Miller and his co-laborers it {chariot with white horses} was given {the religious freedom} to preach the warning in America. This country became the center of the great Advent Movement....The writings of Miller and his associates were carried to distant lands. Wherever missionaries had penetrated in all the world, were sent the glad tidings of Christ's speedy return.'--The Great Controversy, pg. 368."--2 Tract, pg. 29:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"But though 'the white horses' went to the 'north country' {Babylon--Protestant Churches in confusion}, the Millerites, or 'First Advent Movement,' was not in response to the call {in Rev. 18:4}, 'come out of her My people' {that is, not to call them into the Millerite Movement}. This is made clear by Miller's own words: 'In all my labors...I never had the desire or thought to establish any separate interest from that of existing denominations, or to benefit one at the expense of another. I thought to benefit all.'--The Great Controversy, p. 375."--2 Tract, pg. 29:2.

"The concluding revelation is: 'Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted My Spirit in the north country.' Zech. 6:8. After the warning message by the Millerite movement {chariot with white horses} had been rejected by the churches, in fulfillment of the words, 'have quieted My Spirit in the north country' {Babylon}, God withdrew His Spirit from them. In evidence of this, 'the second angel' announced: 'Babylon {Protestant Churches in confusion--G.C. 383:1} is fallen' Rev. 14:8."--2 Tract, pgs. 29, 30 (bold emphasis, braces added).

After Luther began the Reformation and the Protestant Churches were raised up out of their papal bondage (chariot with black horses), God's Spirit worked through them, even though they were in a Babylon of confusion when William Miller taught the 2300-day prophecy. His movement, represented as the chariot with white horses having religious freedon, went "after" (Zech. 6:6) the chariot with black horses into the "north country" (Babylon churches in confusion) to tell them about this doctrine. But because the Babylon churches rejected it, the pleadings of the Holy Spirit was "quieted" (Zech. 6:8) and it was withdrawn from them. Then Miller proclaimed the second angel's message (Rev. 14:8) that "Babylon is fallen," because God could no longer work through these Babylon churches as before. Instead, He worked through the Millerite movement {chariot with white horses}, the First-day Adventist church (Philadelphia) up to the year 1844 A.D.

"God's {Holy} Spirit having been silenced in the north country {Babylon churches in confusion}, must denote that the messages of God in the north country were generally rejected, specially the one of the fourth chariot {with white horses}, which caused the Spirit of Truth to turn away and to bring Truth no more through them {Babylon churches}--to be silent there--and that, therefore, there is not to be expected any Truth through them."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 22:2 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"The foregoing chain of facts surrounding the first three symbolical 'chariots' {with red, black, and white horses}, shows that the series of gospel events which they comprehended terminates with the Millerite movement, in 1844 A.D. And the additional fact that the 'white' color of the 'horses' also denotes purity, shows that the 'third chariot' is symbolical of the church which of all the seven churches is the only one that is white, without condemnation--the Philadelphian church (Rev. 3:7)....The Millerite church's being named 'Philadelphia' was not merely incidental. The name, meaning 'brotherly love,' was divinely designed, and will not, in all the Christian era, fit a church organization other than the Millerite--the only one that is not guilty of casting out its brethren for hearing a message from God, or of restricting their religious freedom in investigating for themselves any purported truth!"--2 Tract, pg. 30:2 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Of all the great religious movements since the days of the apostles, none have been more free from human imperfections and the wiles of Satan than was that of the autumn of 1844 {First-day Adventists, the Philadelphian church, the chariot with white horses}."--Great Controversy, pg. 401:3 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Of all 'the seven churches' (Rev. 2 and 3) {the seven candlesticks}, only the Philadelphian (Millerite) church {chariot with white horses} did not run afoul these same satanic practices. Ever true to God, it closed its brief but spotless career in 1844, its appointed destination."--2 Tract, pgs. 33, 34 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Just as the name 'Philadelphia' {the sixth candlestick--Rev. 3:7} fits only one church organization {Millerite movement}, and only one of the chariots {with white horses}, so the name 'Laodicea' {Rev. 3:14} can logically fit only one of the chariots and only one denomination {chariot with grisled and bay horses}. The word, itself, is derived from the Greek word, Lego-dikean, meaning, 'declaring judgment.' After the event of the Philadelphian church, there must therefore be a church declaring judgment. And it is a historical fact that in 1844 A.D., the very year the Millerite movement {with white horses} came to the end of its appointed course, a new movement, the Seventh-day Adventist denomination {the seventh candlestick--Laodicea}, arose, proclaiming: 'Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come.' (Rev. 14:7)."--2 Tract, pg. 35:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

FOURTH CHARIOT WITH GRISLED AND BAY HORSES

"This symbolic prophecy is seen to corroborate history. It points out that the Christian church at first suffered martyrdom, shown by the color, red. Then followed the Dark-Ages of religion when the Church was in captivity (black). Following these came the Protestant period, the period of religious freedom (white team) {of horses}. And at last comes {the Seventh-day Adventist church--Laodicea} the fourth chariot with its bay and grisled teams {of horses--a dual leadership in the same church}. The teams are seen to have a controversial struggle over the chariot {church}. Grisled being an indefinite color--neither black or white, denotes hypocrisy, the kind of which is heretofore unknown, whereas the color, bay denotes spiritual strength (margin) the kind heretofore unknown."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pgs. 21, 22 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"And in the 'fourth chariot' were 'grisled and bay horses.' {Zech. 6:3}. The anomalous part of this symbolical prophecy is, manifestly, that the fourth chariot {Seventh-day Adventist church}, unlike the other three {chariots}, has a double span of horses {leaders}. But most arresting about the whole symbolism is the paradoxical fact that the grisled {horses} went 'toward the south country {antitypical Egypt--worldliness}, and the bay went forth, and...walked to and fro through the earth'! Zech. 6:6,7. The grisled {horses} go one way, and the bay {horses}, another way, and yet both are pulling the same chariot {Seventh-day Adventist church}!...The dissimilar teams hitched to the fourth chariot, each pulling in a different direction from the other, show not only that there is a double leadership in the Laodicean {Seventh-day Adventist} church, but also that the one {the grisled horses} is opposed to the other {the bay horses} in character as well as in purpose."--2 Tract, pgs. 36, 37 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Unlike in color, the two teams {of horses} are figurative of two classes of servants {in the Seventh-day Adventist church} unlike in character. The former class (the grisled) {horses} are 'men of learning and position,' but 'self-sufficient, independent of God, and He cannot use them.' The latter (the bay) {horses}, those {the Davidians} whom 'He will raise up and exalt among us,' are 'those who are taught rather by the unction of the {Holy} Spirit, than by the outward training of scientific institutions....God will manifest that He is not dependent on learned, self-important mortals.'--Testimonies, Vol. 5, pg. 82."--2 Tract, pg. 43:2 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"The double team of horses, and their two kinds of colors, pulling in two different directions are immediately seen to symbolize a double set of church leaders (the Seventh-day Adventist leaders {grisled horses} and the Davidian Seventh-day Adventist leaders) {bay horses} unlike in character and aim. Symbolically speaking, the grisled horses, those that appeared first on the prophetic scene, are leading the {Seventh-day Adventist} chariot into Egypt--the worldliness from which they ought to come out of rather than go back into. The bay horses {Davidians}, though, are endeavoring to pull away from it and go to and fro through the earth as commanded--to finish the gospel work in accordance with God's plan. But this cannot take place so long as both teams {grisled and bay horses} are hitched to the chariot, for the chariot cannot possibly move in either direction while one team pulls in one direction {Egypt} and the other in another direction {kingdom}."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pgs. 22, 23 (bold emphasis, braces added).

In 1930 Elijah (T.M. 475) came to the Seventh-day Adventist church with the message of The Shepherd's Rod, and the Christians who accepted it became Davidian Seventh-day Adventists (bay horses). The others who rejected Elijah's message followed the "grisled horses" into Egypt (worldliness), which created a "controversial struggle over the chariot."

"And at last comes the fourth chariot with its bay and grisled teams {horses}. The teams are seen to have a controversial struggle over the chariot. Grisled being an indefinite color--neither black or white, denotes hypocrisy, the kind which is heretofore unknown, whereas the color, bay, denotes spiritual strength (margin) the kind heretofore unknown."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 22:0 (bold emphasis, braces added).

Both teams of horses are strong in one way. The "grisled horses" represent the General Conference leadership in the forefront of the Seventh-day Adventist church (chariot), which began in 1844 A.D., and they command almost complete control of the church. Their church membership is numbered by millions of people, and their assets (churches, hospitals, schools, money, etc.) is also numbered by millions of dollars. Therefore, in this one respect they have become materially strong. However, the "bay horses" who follow behind them are only numbered by a few handful of members in comparison to the millions of Seventh-day Adventists, and their assets are numbered by a few thousand dollars; but they are spiritually "strong" (see margin for bay--Zech. 6:3). The main difference between the two, is that the "grisled horses" are interested in more church members and money; but the bay horses {Davidians} are interested in more truth (Elijah message).

GRISLED HORSES REJECT NEW TRUTH

All during the Christian era the majority of the so-called Christians have been foremost in rejecting any new truth that God had sent to them. They have been generally educated in their youth as Christians in either a Protestant or Catholic church, believing in the established doctrines as taught by their teachers. But when a reformatory message is brought to their attention by other Christians, such as Luther, Knox, Wesley, Campbell, who preached previously understood doctrines that was trampled down by the papacy during the Dark-Age confederacy, or any new truth, such as brought by William Miller (First-day Adventists) and Ellen G. White (Seventh-day Adventists), then they would reject it; whereas only a few Christians would accept such truths and progress in spiritual growth. So today, only a few Davidians have progressed with the new truth of Elijah's message. Thus, the reason most Seventh-day Adventists today (grisled horses) are not Davidians (bay horses) is easily understood when these series of questions is asked:

"...why Catholics have not yet become Lutherans, why Lutherans have not yet become Presbyterians, why Presbyterians have not yet become Methodists, why Methodists have not yet become Baptists, why Baptists have not yet become Seventh-day Adventists, and why Seventh-day Adventists have not yet become Davidian Seventh-day Adventists {bay horses}? The overall answer is that each successive denomination had failed to keep pace with the progress of Truth, because each had failed to climb higher than the height of the founder of each respective denomination could possibly have led them in his life time."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 26, pgs. 20, 21 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Now suppose that Abel had lived until our day and had followed the progress of Truth through each generation, what would have been his experience in religion?--He would necessarily have joined with Enoch's movement; with Noah's; with Abraham's; with Jacob's; with Moses'; with all the prophets'; with John the Baptist's, with the Apostles; then with the Lutherans'; with the Presbyterians'; with the Methodists'; with the First-day Adventists'; with the Seventh-day Adventists'; and at last he would have joined with Davidian Seventh-day Adventists {bay horses}. In order for him to keep up with advancing Truth, Abel would have had to leave one movement and join another at each new unfoldment of Truth, otherwise he would have remained as ignorant in the progress of religion as have the Jews."--1 Timely Greetings, No. 51, pgs. 10, 11 (bold emphasis, braces added).

Seventh-day Adventists (grisled horses) have not become Davidian Seventh-day Adventists (bay horses) because they will not progress with Truth! In 1882 A.D. the Spirit of Prophecy (Testimonies written by Sis. White) said that they were "retreating toward Egypt" (worldliness--5 Test. 217). Thus, by following the ways of the world they could not see the truth of the "Righteousness of Christ" in 1888 A.D. to 1890 A.D. by Jones and Waggoner (T.M. 91:2), and they rejected it. As a result the "deadly wound was healed" (Rev. 13:3) by 1929 A.D., because they rejected this truth again (2 T.G. 39:19) when it came in the form of The Shepherd's Rod message that same year. This conclusively proved that they had stopped protesting against Catholicism. Therefore, "all the world wondered after the beast" (Rev. 13:3), which would include the Seventh-day Adventist church as well. That is, Seventh-day Adventists should have been hungering for the truth of Elijah's message (The Shepherd's Rod), rather than wondering after worldliness. Instead, they rejected it, which proved they no longer "wondered" after truth, but "wondered" after worldliness! In agreement with this fact, Zechariah prophesied that the "grisled horses" are leading the Seventh-day Adventist church (chariot) to Egypt, the "south country" (Zech. 6:6)--worldliness.

GRISLED HORSES GO TO SOUTH COUNTRY--EGYPT

"...the Spirit of prophecy says: 'I am filled with sadness when I think of our condition as a people....The {Seventh-day Adventist} church {chariot with grisled horses} has turned back from following Christ her Leader, and is steadily retreating toward Egypt {worldliness}. Yet few are alarmed or astonished at their want of spiritual power.'--Testimonies, Vol. 5, pg. 217."--2 Tract, pg. 49:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"The fourth chariot {Seventh-day Adventist church}, though, is supposed to go to and fro through the earth--to every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people. But contrary to this, the grisled horses {General Conference leaders} 'go forth toward the south country' which, figuratively speaking, would be spiritual Egypt--worldliness."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 22:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"...ancient Egypt--'the south country'--is symbolical of our present world in general, where 'our Lord was crucified' {Rev. 11:8}. Consequently, though 'the black' and 'the white horses' went 'into the north country' (Christendom), 'the grisled horses' {Seventh-day Adventist leaders} went toward 'the south country' (the world)."--2 Tract, pg. 48:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

The General Conference ministers (the grisled horses), have led the Seventh-day Adventist church to adopt many of the customs and fashions of the world, rather than lead them to accept Elijah's new truth. And since the color of the "grisled horses" denotes hypocrisy, and since they have "a great zeal for large congregations," and since they are bringing into the church multitudes of other hypocrites who are also lovers of worldliness, then it is obvious that their purpose is to engineer a gigantic organization of millions of people, not to save them, but to gain their wealth!

"A passion for increase of members without a commensurate burden for their sanctification--their being 'born again'--is engendered not by the Spirit of Christ, but rather by the {born-of-the-flesh} carnal heart, which says: 'I will go after my lovers, that give me {my money to buy} my bread and my water, my wool, and my flax, mine oil and my drink.' {Hos2:5}. Selfishness, ambition, greed--these are Satan's right-hand helpers."--4 Tract, pg. 22:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

When Elijah came in 1930 A.D. with the message of The Shepherd's Rod to rebuke their sins, the grisled horses saw a danger of losing their hypocritical congregations and their wealth, because these world-loving hypocrites would rather leave the church than to accept truth and reform their worldly ways. And since they desired the wealth of these hypocrites more than the truth of Elijah's message, they were compelled by "greed" to prejudice their world-loving laymembers against it, while feeding them the "dung" baked cakes (Ezek. 4:12, 13) which they love so well, in exchange for their money! However, since the "bay horses" (Davidians) are connected to the chariot (Seventh-day Adventist church) behind the "grisled horses," it means that they are a part of the church; but not having control of it, both teams of horses, then, are "each contesting the right to the chariot" (2 Tr. 42). The "bay horses" are trying to reform the church and pull the chariot out of Egypt (worldliness), but they can't because "the grisled are endeavoring to kick away the bay from the chariot to keep it in the south country" (2 Tr. 47). But the hypocrisy of the "grisled horses" cannot "deceive the very elect" (Mt. 24:24)--the second leadership (the bay horses), those who are to be sealed as one "of" the 144,000, because they will eventually possess the chariot!

THE SECOND LEADERSHIP (BAY HORSES)

"...God must have a second leadership {bay horses--the Davidians} to finish His greatest work since the world began. Of this second set of servants {the 144,000} we read: 'And I saw another angel ascending from the east; having the seal of the living god; and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels,...saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.' 'And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.' Rev. 7:2,3; 14:5."--2 Tract, pg. 39:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Remember, too, that you {Davidians} are candidates for the first fruits, to be either one with, or one of the 144,000, that you are to be without guile in your mouths (Rev. 14:5).--1 Timely Greetings No. 4, pg. 27:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

Now since the team of bay horses symbolize the "second leadership" (the 144,000 Davidians), then the living "passengers in the chariot must symbolize the laity" (2 T.G. 22:21) who will be sealed as one "with" the 144,000, escape the slaughter of Ezek. 9, and go with them to God's kingdom (the second brass mountain), as noted below:

"All that are found members of the {Seventh-day Adventist} church up to the fulfillment of Ezekiel Nine will either receive the seal and be a part of or with the 144,000 {bay horses}, or else be left without the seal and fall under the 'slaughter weapons' of the 'five men' {angels--Gen. 19:1, 5; T.M. 431}"--2 Symbolic Code, No. 5, pg. 8:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

The "bay horses" are the spiritually "strong" (margin--Zech. 6:3) members of the Seventh-day Adventist church. This fact proves irrefutably that the Davidian Seventh-day Adventist "bay horses" will win the "controversial struggle over the chariot" (2 T.G. 22:22), and at last take control of the Seventh-day Adventist church, because the "grisled horses" will be destroyed.

GRISLED HORSES CUT LOOSE FROM CHARIOT

"So stay no longer with the grisled horses in Egypt {south country--Egypt}, for to do so will be only to perish there {by the slaughter of Ezek. 9} with them while the bay {horses} take the chariot {of passengers from Egypt} to the promised land {God's kingdom}."--2 Tract, 45:0 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"The immediate necessity, therefore, is to unhitch (discharge) {by the slaughter of Ezek. 9} the one {hypocritical team of grisled horses--leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist church}, so that the other {spiritually strong team of bay horses--Davidians} can be free to go to and fro through the earth {with the gospel} as soon as they are told to 'Go' {Zech. 6:7}. When this happens the paradox {two teams of horses pulling the same chariot in two different directions} will be a paradox no longer."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 23:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"This is exactly what is happening right now: Those who are rejecting the message {of Elijah} that is announcing the Judgment for the Living {slaughter of Ezek. 9}; those who 'did not keep pace with the light' {5 Test. 80}, and are satisfied to stay in antitypical Egypt {worldliness}; the Seventh-day Adventists' ministry {grisled horses} are to be discharged (unhitched); and the 'hidden' ones {5 Test. 81}, those represented by the bay horses, the {144,000} Davidian Seventh-day Adventists' ministry, are coming to the front. They are now being 'disclosed to view,' and are getting ready to take the chariot {of living passengers to God's kingdom}! Then as soon as they are told to 'Go,' they will unhesitatingly and speedily move on 'to and fro through the earth' with the message of the hour, the Judgment of the Living {to gather into God's kingdom a great multitude--Rev. 7:9}."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 24:2 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Seeing that the {Seventh-day Adventist} chariot is drawn by both teams {grisled and bay horses}, each pulling in a different direction from the other, obviously both cannot win out without breaking it in two, thus leaving it ruined and useless. One pair or the other, therefore, must be cut out of the traces {slain by the slaughter of Ezek. 9}. And the fact that the bay (the 'strong horses'--verse 3, margin) are the ones who 'walk to and fro through the earth' while the grisled {horses} remain in Egypt, shows that the bay {horses} alone {the 144,000 Davidians} are to possess the chariot {of living passengers who go 'with' them--1 T.G. 4:27; 2 T.G. 4:15; 4 Ans. 20, 21} and to take it from Egypt {the south country, not from Babylon the north country} to the promised land {the second brass mountain--kingdom of God}."--2 Tract, pg. 45:1 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Although this remarkable prophetic symbolization {Zech. 6:1-8}, now opened up fully, was simply another locked prophecy when The Shepherd's Rod, Vol. 1 was published and sent throughout the S.D.A. denomination in 1930, yet its momentous message to Laodicea {seventh candlestick} (declaring that the prophecy of the ninth chapter of Ezekiel is on the verge of fulfillment {angels slay the wicked}, and that those {saints} who escape the 'slaughter' will comprise the future leadership of the church),...{144,000 Davidian bay horses}."--2 Tract, pg. 45:2 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Now is everyone's chance {in the Seventh-day Adventist church} to decide to be either on the one side or on the other, either to reform and be led by the faithful {Davidian} bay horses {to God's kingdom}, or to cling to the self-important grisled horses and stay by them in the south country {Egypt--worldliness}, there to perish {die by the slaughter of Ezek. 9}. Here is indeed a momentous decision to be made by every member of the Denomination. It calls for action that will decide the future destiny of the laity as well as of the ministry."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 22, pg. 26:3.

ZECHARIAH'S MYSTERY REVEALED IN THE LATTER DAYS

Now why has God kept Zechariah's prophecy a mystery until the "latter days"? Because its "secret" (Amos 3:7) could not be revealed until He sent His prophet Elijah (Mal. 4:5) to the Seventh-day Adventist church to explain its focal point: The sealing of the 144,000 saints during a "controversial struggle" (2 T.G. 22:22:0) between the grisled horses (leaders) and the bay horses (Davidians); and its outcome when the "grisled horses" are cut loose from the chariot by the slaughtering angels of Ezek. 9! Then the 144,000 Davidian "bay horses" will take to God's soon-coming kingdom the chariot of living "passengers"--the saints who go "with" them.

WHY DO GRISLED HORSES CAST OUT THE BAY HORSES?

Since the fourth chariot (Seventh-day Adventist church) with its grisled horses (General Conference leaders) are in the forefront of the church, leading out millions of members with assets in the millions of dollars; while the bay horses (Davidian Seventh-day Adventists) are behind them leading a few thousand members with assets of a few thousamd dollars, then why do the grisled horses remove the names of the bay horses from their church books and cast them out of their churches? To find out why, consider the answer to this question: Do you know what the grisled horses would do if a Catholic or a Baptist or any member of another denomination should walk into their church services on the Sabbath day? They would welcome them with open arms! Why? because they do not consider them a threat to their members. They feel quite confident that they can prove to their members that the doctrines of these Catholics or Protestants is wrong, especially Sunday worship.

But not so with the true Davidians! When they walk into the Seventh-day Adventist church, the grisled horses shake in their boots, as it were, because they know that the true doctrines which they teach from Elijah's message of The Shepherd's Rod cannot be proven wrong. It is his literature which they fear the most, and that is why the grisled horses frighten their laymembers (passengers in the chariot) by threatening to cast them out of the church if they so much as talk to the bay horses (Davidians) or take their literature! And especially if they listen to their Bible studies, because Elijah's message exposes the abominations of the grisled horses, such as their Sabbath violations--trafficking (1 Test. 471,472) and plate passing to extort money from the laity. And when the bay horses (Davidians) read to the laymembers from the Testimonies by their prophetess--Sis. E.G. White (1 S.M. 34:5) about the slaughtering angels of Ezek. 9 (1 Test. 190:0; 3 Test. 266; 5 Test. 211) who will slay those Seventh-day Adventists who practice the abominations (Ezek. 9:4); and when they learn that those who escape this slaughter will be the 144,000 who stand on Mt. Zion in God's soon-coming kingdom, then a few of them become Davidians! There are others, of course, who see that the Davidians are right in what they teach, but they are "weak and hesitating" (5 Test. 81:2). One day they "will be as David--willing to do and dare" (5 Test. 81:2) and become Davidians! All the other millions of laymembers who refuse to become Davidians will die in the coming slaughter of Ezek. 9!

The obvious reason why the behaviour of the grisled horses is like the Jewish Sanhedrin who cast out Jesus and His disciples from the synagogue--Jn. 9:22; D.A. 472:4), is because Davidians get their converts from the Seventh-day Adventist church, as the Christians got their converts from the Jewish church! And that is the reason why the grisled horses continue their war against the bay horses!

"While the Lord is now marking the {144,000} first fruits of His kingdom, those {grisled horses} in Laodicea, 'the ancient men' (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 211), supposing themselves to be doing His bidding by forcing the laity not to listen to the Lord's messengers {by threatening to cast them out} and not to read His message in The Shepherd's Rod , are attempting to prevent them from receiving His mark, which is to keep them from perishing {die in the slaughter of Ezek. 9}. And as prophecy shows, this war, when finished in Laodicea {Seventh-day Adventist church}, spreads into Babylon as the Lord begins marking the second fruits of His kingdom {great multitude}, and as the beast, supposing himself (as do the ancient men now) to be doing the Lord's bidding, decrees that 'all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond' (Rev. 13:16), receive his mark rather than the Lord's, which is to keep them, also, from perishing {by the seven last plagues--Rev. 16:1)."--9 Tract, pg. 63 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"As Saul, furthermore, defied God by refusing to abdicate the throne, and by seeking the life of His anointed, king David, so now at the sounding of the trumpet today, we find the General Conference refusing to let God take the reins in His Own hands (Testimonies to Ministers, p. 300), their attempting to usurp His throne by determining that they are to rule the denomination until the end of this world, and their availing themselves of every chance to cast us {bay horses--Davidians} out of their midst, in order to safeguard their control of it."--8 Tract, pg. 53 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"Though the leaders {grisled horses} of the S.D.A. denomination are determined to drive {and cast} out of the church all who believe in the message of The Shepherd's Rod, they are trying to make it appear that the Rod's adherents {bay horses--Davidians} are pulling out for themselves. The paradoxical truth, however, shows that they are to possess 'the chariot,' and their refusing to leave the church demonstrates in actuality the certainty of the bay horses' alone taking the chariot to its destination--'to and fro through the earth.'"--2 Tract, pg. 46 (bold emphasis, braces added).

GRISLED HORSE OFFSHOOTS CAST OUT BAY HORSES AS OFFSHOOTS

"All people down through the ages that have ever embraced a fresh message from God, were branded as 'offshoots' and considered dangerous--something from which one must beware lest he be shot at, as it were, stabbed, trapped, or something as bad, or hard to tell what.

"As you know, we {bay horses--Davidians}, too, are branded as such {offshoots} and are accused of leaving the Denomination even as much as were the apostles accused of leaving Judaism and taking up Christianity. Actually the apostles had left nothing, for they not only took along with them every truth Judaism had, but they went on with the fresh Truth of God also, whereas Judaism fell back. The apostles, moreover, would have remained in the synagogue if the Jews had not driven them out. For this the apostles were called 'offshoots,' or the like.

"We {bay horses--Davidians} likewise have not pulled away from the Denomination {but are still attached to the fourth chariot}, but have been cast out of our respective churches and forced to go by another name, Davidian Seventh-day Adventists,--and all this for no other reason than for embracing the additional Heaven-born Truth which gives power and force to the Advent message (Early Writings, p. 277), and which makes us better Seventh-day Adventists than we have been or could otherwise be.

"Now, if we {bay horses--Davidians} be 'offshoots' for walking in the light which heaven sends from time to time to lead God's people in the way of Truth and Righteousness, then I should like to know what our brethren {grisled horses} think they themselves are, for by the same token of logic the Mother Denomination, the Seventh-day Adventist, is itself an offshoot from another denomination. Moreover, this is also true of all the Protestant denominations, for they are the offshoots of the Catholic; and the Apostolic is an offshoot of the Jewish. Who, then, outside of the Jews is not an offshoot? In fact, if we go as far back as Abraham's time, we will find that even the Jews were an offshoot of something before their time. If offshoots are therefore to be shunned, hated, and abhorred, then why are there any Christians at all? And if this is an eye-opener to those who think themselves something other than an offshoot, they should now without delay apply for admission to the {Jewish} Synagogue, or else begin to behave like God's men."--2 Timely Greetings, No. 43, pgs. 3, 4 (bold emphasis, braces added).

"The Davidians {bay horses} are {not offshoots but} the upshoot from decadent Seventh-day Adventism prophetically envisioned in Ezekiel, chapter nine. Its members are in the main those who have been cast out and deprived of the fellowship of their Seventh-day Adventist churches. Thus being separated from their church and denied its name because of their having given heed to the voice of the Rod, the voice of the Good Shepherd, they are called by the name imbedded in the work of the Rod, 'Davidian Seventh-day Adventists,' until the time when they shall be 'called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.' Isa. 62:2."--Leviticus, pg. 12 (bold emphasis, braces added).

ZECHARIAH ENCOURAGES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS TO BECOME DAVIDIANS

The ministers (grisled horses) frighten the laymbers (passengers in the chariot) by their misapplication of this Scripture: "And I will give unto thee {Peter and all succeeding Christians} the keys {truth} of the Kingdom of Heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth {for rejecting truth} shall be loosed in Heaven."--Matthew 16:19 (bold emphasis, braces added).

First, the grisled horses preach inflamatory sermons ("tirades"--8 Test. 156:0) from the pulpit to prejudice the laity (passengers in the chariot) against the bay horses (Davidians). Then they warn the laity that they will be cast out of the churches if they study with the Davidians. And after reading Matt. 16:19, they say: "If you become a Davidan you will be cast out--loosed on earth and loosed in heaven--cursed forever"! But the real meaning of this Scripture applies to the wicked who reject truth, wherein they are loosed on earth and loosed in heaven. This sort of wresting the Scriptures is the same type of scare-tactic which the Jewish Sanhedrein used to frighten Jews away from accepting Jesus by casting them out of the synagogue (Jn. 9:22). But Jesus and the Christians did not reject any truth, therefore, when they were cast out by the Sanhedrin they were not loosed from God's church on earth or heaven. If they were, then all Christians are cursed! Instead, Jesus said Christians are "blessed" when they are cast out (Lk. 6:22; Isa. 66:5)!

This fact proves, then, that when Seventh-day Adventists study with the bay horses (Davidians) and learn Zechariah's prophecy (Zech. 6:1-8), they are encouraged to become a Davidian, because they have lost their fear of being cast out. They know that if they reject the truth of Elijah's message, then they really will be loosed from God's church on earth and heaven. But if they are cast out for accepting the truth of Elijah's message, the Lord will recognize them as a part of His church bound on earth as bay horses (Davidian Seventh-day Adventist) attached to the chariot. Then they will be "blessed" as Jesus and the disciples were blessed after being cast out of the Jewish church, because the Lord still recognized them as a part of His church; while those Jews who rejected Jesus, the truth (Jn. 14:6), were loosed on earth and heaven and destroyed along with their temple in A.D. 70. So it shall be today. The grisled horses and the passengers in the chariot who reject Elijah's message will be loosed on earth and heaven, and destroyed by the slaughtering angels (Ezek. 9:5, 6) when they are cut loose from the fourth chariot!
