Re-Upholstery
This 1950's Club chair has clearly seen better days but the quality of frame and style of the chair is something rarely seen today. We stripped the chair down to it's bare frame and traditionally re-upholstered it. We did this using all the same techniques and stuffings that would have been used originally. Using coil sprngs, jute web, fibre, horse hair, cotton felt etc. As you can see it looks as good as new, hopefully it will last another 60 years.
A customer called us for a quotation to re-upholster this classic 1950's club sofa, which was previously owned by her Grandmother. We came to their house with a variety of pattern books, unfortunitely none of which was to their liking so we measured the sofa advised them how replica watches much fabric how they would need and gave them a price for just the labour of re-upholstering. This was far cheaper than buying a quality sofa new so the customer bought the fabric themselves and we upholstered it for them
This Victorian Chaise Lounge was in very condition before we restored it to it's former glory. The frame was broken all the springs needed replacing and the stuffing. We stripped the chaise lounge down to it's bare frame. Then we repaired the frame by knocking all the joints out, replacing and repairing them all securing with wood adhesive. Then we traditionally upholstered it using Jute webbing, coil springs, hessian, fibre, horse hair, cotton felt and calico. The back and arm was Upholstered using the deep buttoning technique to give a real traditional look.
This sofa was not in great condition. The fabric was worn, the stuffing had turned to dust and the springs needed replacing. We stripped the chair down to it's bare frame checked all the joints before starting the Upholstery. We then replaced all the springs, lining and stuffings before covering in an Ian Mankin's Linen fabric. The image does not do justice the transformation of this sofa !!
This Parker Knoll chair was not in very good condition at all when our customer brought it in. We had to strip it down to it's bare frame, before we repaired the frame, polished the arms and legs. Then we replaced all of the springs, linings, and stuffings before upholsterering in a stunning Designers Guild Fabric.
We made this to order for the designer Susanna Hunter. Sussanna provided us with her own unique sewn leather, diagram, measurements, and spec for the stuffing and finish then we did the rest. For more examples of Susanna Hunter's work follow link ; www,susannahunter.com
