We bought this property 15 years ago to get away from the huss and bustle of the Gold Coast, we found the property in Grass Roots mag and still have the original add.
It said "very rare very isolated" and still is to this day...we are the only pocket of land freehold shown on land and survey maps surrounded by national Forrest and state protected land, as far as the eye can see there is no one, situated in a plateau with hills and mountains all around, crystal clear creek to call your own.It was once a gold mining property in the early 1900s and belonged to the Taylor's so there is after all these years still gold to be found... it has only had a few owners.
It take 1 1/2 hrs from Grafton to get there 3/4 on dirt Rds up and down hills, nearest neighbor is 28 km away this is for the person who wants to play REAL Hippie or just getaway in holidays.
There is a very comfy well maintained cabin, fruit trees, and of course the creek...you must cross a ford and our creek to get to the land so a 4 by 4 is needed.
We mow around the cabin so its safe from snakes and because it looks good when sitting on the deck in the late afternoon having a beer or two!! soil is great and untouched you could grow anything.
Cabin is strong and cosy and has a bedroom with 2 bunk beds, bath/storage room, and large combined kitchen lounge area with potbelly fire and our bed, everything in it comes with the sale Queen bed table chairs eating and cooking utensils and a lot more move in tomorrow.
No town power, no phone [connection to mobile is available on 3G network 14 km from land] cabin has been wired for use with a generator but we use Gas for light, cooking and to run a portable fridge all gas bottles and lights come with sale.
There are 2 baths yes 2!! I huge outside bath that we fill with water heated in a copper with a lid and tap with a small fire inside made in Germany an ingenious idea perfect for 2 to watch the stars at night.There is also a small bath inside and a shower outside and we use a long drop toilet but with seat very civilized. Water to kitchen is gravity fed there is a tank and it works very well.
We have seen all sorts of native wildlife there are turtles in the creek and our spring fed dam, platapus, dingos and all sorts of marsupials goannas can be somewhat annoying but we figure they keep snakes away buy eating the eggs, we have only ever seen red belly black snakes no browns although the area is supposed to have them, we wear Gum boots most of the time and feel pretty safe no bites in 15 years!!
No more to say it is a beautiful property esp when the bottle brush season is on there is always the risk of the creek filling when it rains and so it is not a good idea to attempt to cross when pouring, we have always hoped this would happen to us and we would be forced to stay until the creek goes down [great excuse not to get back to work] as it is very safe in the cabin not even the big floods of 2000? entered the house but the creek was a river, so I keep enough supplies for 6 to 8 weeks like flour rice cans dried food etc for just such an occasion too bad it just hasn't happened yet!!
We want someone to care for this land called "Goodole"after our 2 names as we have done with reverence and respect we always thought that if we were lucky enough to buy it we promised to love and cherish it.... now it is someone elses turn.
