‘Rest of the World’ XV defeat against the mighty Welsh Deaf XV

 

The Welsh Deaf XV ran in seven-tries against the ‘Rest of World’ XV attempt of two tries with 46pts – 10pts win at Sardis Road

England’s hooker, Brett Pruce who opened up the score with a try created from a lineout, initially driven on by England’s second row, Dan McAllister then handing the ball to Brett Pruce to touch down.

 

It was fly-half Richard Lewis, centre Gareth John, full-back Tim Parkinson scored to give Wales a 20pts – 5pts half-time lead

Wingers Chris Radcliffe and Nigel Francis and second row pair Matthew Campbell and Tyrone Hughes added second-half tries for Wales, and the last word came from       ‘Rest of the World’ with a final try from South African, back row Truter Bothma

This match managed to field many different nationalities whether by direct nationality or descent which includes Scottish, Irish, Dutch, Australian, South African, New Zealanders, Polish and obviously English and Welsh, which in itself is quite an achievement!

 Lyndon James, England Deaf secretary agreed to assist WDRU with their Centenary celebration by means of an entertainment match initially consisting of England & Scotland Deaf players’, however, as time went on the squad grew into an international representative squad, which was an absolute joy to witness

Lyndon arranged this match with help from the EDRU coaching staff, which proved to be a major success in the name of Deaf Rugby…Well Done to Lyndon & Staff, and of course to the players too, as many of them travelled from afar at their own expense to make this game possible
