I'm going to live in France for a while

Bonjour!

First of all, excuse me for using English to write this message, but I don't feel very confident in French.

I'm Alberto, a speedcuber from Spain. I've just finished my studies as a programmer and web developer, and now I must do a period as an intern in a company to get my degree. That's why I'm going to be living in France for two months, more specifically, in Nîmes.

I already know a couple of French speedcubers from the competitions in Madrid (Edouard and Kanneti), but I hope I can compete in France and meet more people there. Are there many speedcubers in the south of France?

Also, some cubing data about me, since this is a forum about that. I started in January '09. I do 3x3 mostly and I average 12.5 - 13.5 seconds. I have learned how to solve the cube blindfolded recently. I haven't been to a competition since October '10, so it's about time that I compete again. Oh, this is my WCA profile.

There're some french speedcuber in the South of France, but I'm not sure there're some in Nîmes. I live in Toulouse and there're others in Montpellier I guess.
If you wanna compete "soon", there will be a competition in Montpellier the 28th and 29th of May. I guess you'll be able to come, Montpellier is quite close to Nîmes!

I hope you'll enjoy your french experiment!

I find this topic funny because I did exactly the same on a German cube forum yesterday.

Yes, I created this website. Basically, it is an unofficial ranking of Spanish speedcubers, and it also has weekly competitions. All the work it's done automatically, using PHP and MySQL for the data.

I'm a casual programmer. I haven't really written any interesting cube-related tool but I implemented Kociemba Algorithm in OCaml. I often start projects that I never finish

but it makes me read a lot of code and understand better how solvers work. For the moment, I'm learning how to work with the Isabelle proof assistant and I will try to use it to prove the correctness of a few solving algorithms.

Quelques informations cubistiques me concernant, puisque c'est un forum qui parle de ça. J'ai commencé en janvier 2009. Je fais surtout du 3x3 et je moyenne à 12.5-13.5 secondes. J'ai récemment appris à résoudre le cube en blind. Je n'ai pas été à une compétition depuis le moi d'octobre donc il est temps que j'en refasse une. Oh et voici mon profil WCA.

Si tu veux faire une compétition "bientôt", il y en aura une à Montpellier les 28 et 29 mai. Tu devrais pouvoir venir, Montpellier est plutôt proche de Nïmes !

Oui, j'ai créé ce site web. Fondamentalement, c'est un classement officieux des speedcubeurs espagnols, et il contient aussi des concours hebdomadaires. Ça marche de manière complètement automatique, en PHP et MySQL pour les données.
