Premier League and Championship Predictions Competition Rules

The Premier League and Championship Predictions Competition involves predicting the outcome of all of the games in the English Premier League and / or Championship throughout the 2015-2016 season. Predicting the outcome simply means predicting Home, Draw or Away for each fixture, it does not involve predicting the actual score. For example the first fixture of the season in the Championship is Brighton vs Nottingham Forest, if you think Brighton will win, you will select Home, if you think Nottingham Forest will win, you will select Away and if you think neither team will win, you will select Draw.

Scoring

Points are awarded as follows for each game;

  • Correctly predicting a home win = 1 point
  • Correctly predicting a draw = 2 points
  • Correctly predicting an away win = 2 points

You will therefore score 0, 1 or 2 points for each game.

The season is divided up into 'Rounds' and 'Legs'. A Round consists of a complete set of Premier League and/or Championship fixtures, ie. a set of weekend or midweek fixtures. The score for each Round goes towards the overall score for the season and the score for the current Leg. A Leg is made up of 10 Rounds; the winner of the Leg is the person with the highest score over those 10 Rounds. At the end of the Leg the scores for the next Leg are set to zero, whilst the overall Season score continues through all of the Legs.

Entering Predictions

Predictions can be entered at any time, the only rule is that the prediction for a game must be entered before the game kicks off, it will not be possible to enter a prediction for a game after the game has started. It is possible to enter a prediction in advance and change it at any time up to kick off for that game; next to each game is a 'Commit' tick box, if you tick this box when you submit your predictions the prediction for that game will be 'Committed' and thereafter cannot be changed. Once you have 'Committed' your prediction you will be able to see other players predictions for that game. Any predictions that are entered but not 'Committed' at kick off will automatically be 'Committed'.

It's up to you how far in advance you do your predictions, you can do them weeks in advance and choose to change them up to the deadline explained above. However you choose to do it, it's your responsibility to complete your predictions on time.

Premier League or Championship

During registration you will be asked if you wish to Predict Premier League fixtures, Championship fixtures or both. There are 932 fixtures in total across the Premier League and Championship spread over approximately 50 rounds, including weekend and midweek fixtures. The Championship is one of the most competitive leagues in the world and therefore one of the hardest leagues in the world to predict, the real challenge on Football-Foresight is predicting the Championship alongside the slightly more predictable Premier League. The Football-Foresight homepage will keep you informed of upcoming fixtures, but it is your responsibility to ensure you enter your predictions on time, if you fail to enter a prediction you will score zero points for that fixture.

Private Leagues

On completing registration you will be automatically entered into the All Players league, you will then have the option to join a Private League created by one of your friends, or of creating your own Private League. To join a Private League you will need the unique League Code that was generated when the league was created; to join a Private League go to the 'Join Private League', page accessible form the Preferences menu and enter the League Code for the League you wish to join.

Any player can create their own Private League by accessing the 'Create Private League' page accessible from the Preferences menu, the creator of the league becomes the League Manager. When creating a Private League the League Manager has the option to include Premier League fixtures, Championship fixtures or both sets of fixtures in their competition. The League Manager also has the option to select the start date of the competition (to give more notice to players to join, the League Manager may decide to miss an upcoming Round and start the competition later). The League Manager also has the option to set the duration of the competition in multiples of 10 Rounds, or run the competition until the end of the season. Private Leagues can be started at any point during the season, they do not have to be set up before the season starts, they can begin part way through the season and include the remaining games in the season.

It is the responsibility of the League Manager to distribute the unique Private League Code to other players they wish to invite to join their Private League; the code is shown when the Create Private League page has been completed.

If a player joins a Private League which includes fixtures they originally chose not to predict during registration, ie if a player elected to predict Premier League fixtures only and they then join a Private League that includes Championship fixtures, the act of joining the Private League will override their original selection and in this example, they will be able to predict Championship fixtures as well.
