Europe by rail

It might seem strange to include rail travel on a site dealing with ferry transport, but many of the present day ferry routes were formerly operated by British Rail and their Continental counterparts.

Rail travel is often overlooked as an option when travelling to Europe, but clearly, the Channel Tunnel has had an enormous impact on the options available.

The two main travel options are:

Eurotunnel - rail transport that carries cars and their occupants between England and France  click here >>

Eurostar -  Hi-speed passenger rail service linking London with Paris and Brussels. This is the gateway to the entire European high-speed rail network and there are some surprising bargains to be found, such as London to any station in Germany from only £43 each way.   Click here >>
