This will probably not every happen, and if it does, it will probably be a half-ass port (as another person described most of Android's apps.) I have started dabbling in Android programing (since I recently got an Android phone for my out-of-the-country / unlocked phone), but so far it's just been a bit frustrating and there's still a lot to do on the iPhone side. Sorry.

Hope you do change your mind, I'd definitely buy the Android version as well.

Kudos to Ernie for a great app! Because Flashcards Deluxe is the primary app I use in my Russian studies, just the fact that Ernie won't be developing an Android app is reason enough for me to stay with my trusty iPhone and never even consider switching to an Android!

BTW, I concur with albertdewey, the sole existence of FCD keeps me to the iPhone!

: )
Norbert, what do you like about Android?
I do see that it's more customizable, and more powerful in certain ways, like being able to access storage memory and use tethering. I'm a simple user and find iPhone a more refined experience, with apps generally looking nicer.

Hi Ernie,
let us not start a philosophical discussion, but I am mostly concerned with business policy of Apple, and dominance of the market. The other thing is that Android is linux, so I can hack away if I want to change something or do different things ;-)

But as said, I am happy with my iPhone, mainly due to FCD, so I will not change, already thinking about replacing my worn out 3GS with a 4.

All the best

Thanks for the feedback. Btw, after switching from my 3G to 4, I could not stand to look at the 3G screen anymore. The difference is huge. I wonder how long before 5 is readily available. Take care.

Yeah the screen is nice, but the prize, too.

But sooner or later, I am only concerned about getting one which I can jailbreak ;-) I need tethering!

Best

You know how much time it costs to develop an Android version? I assume with your 20$ Ernie would not even get the necessary API documentation paid ;-)

Seriously, I see the point that it would be nice to have an Android version, but as long as this is a one-man-show by Ernie, I suggest to improve the program itself, instead of spending long weeks to port it to Android. Android developers should come up with something similar!!!

Hey Bernie. I'd really like to have an Android version, but it won't happen without serious sacrifices in other areas, so who know if or when in will happen. Not anytime soon. And any Android version of mine would be a stripped down version anyway. Sorry, and good luck!

Yeah, it's a real pain. I reverted to my iPod touch 1g to study flashcards as I simply cannot find a good flashcard app for android. :(

Here is a post from a android-forum which introduces and checking a few android-apps.
There is nothing as good as Flashcards Deluxe - but there might be something for somebody.

(last update was in july 2011)

Best regards

ps. and yes - it would be great to have a Android version ;-)

Just one more plea: Ernie, Android needs you! Your app is by far the best, and you should raise the price.

What I would prefer - instead of a android or other os-systems - a HTML 5 app.

There are some poc out there swipestudy.com or gre.plasticcube.com/#home.

So if this would work - you pay and get the access to this app - and it will work almost everywhere.
The point is: Are all this features (or this, what we need at least) possible to handle?

Best regards
Andreas

Hi Andreas. Ah, a new idea. Well, it's most likely not going to happen. Sorry. I much prefer a native app over an html version. I still have too much I want to do on the iOS platform that who knows when I'll be ready to break out of it.

A bit offtopic - if allowed:

One friend uses Android phone - and I wanted to install her one flashcard-program from the list above.
Without a account in google it was not possible - so I didnt think and put my one.

The programm was installed - but hanging up after first import via quizlet. We didnt know any way to get it working.
And - without any questions as well: All my emails were imported to her phone - and her contacts to my account.
Thats cool - But we didnt want it... When I remember well, the iOS is asking always for things like this.
And the app never made something like this.

How to say: She had to reset her phone - because she didnt find a way to delete my account...

I love iOS... ;-)
