Nancy Mattson @ Greenbelt Festival, Monday 29th of August

by flambardblog

Nancy Mattson will be reading poetry from her latest collection this coming Monday at Cheltenham’s Greenbelt Festival. Mattson’s performance, “A Dream of Utopia in Soviet Karelia”, tells of Mattson’s search for her Finnish great-aunt, who disappeared in Karelia in the 1930s alongside many other American Finns who moved to the area with the dream of establishing a Socialist Utopia. Mattson’s poetry presents a search for meaning and motive alongside a highly personal journey into both family- and world-history.

“A Dream of Utopia in Soviet Karelia” will take place at 10am, Monday 29th of August at The Hub (Cheltenham Racecourse)
