About GYLC

The Global Young Leaders Conference is an annual event that is held in America and Europe. A very selected few high achieving students are nominated each year and given the opportunity to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity. I was fortunate to have been invited for this year’s conference to be held at the United States of America. Below is an excerpt from the GYLC website.

“The Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) is a unique leadership development program that brings together outstanding young people from around the world to build critical leadership skills in a global context.

GYLC offers students the opportunity to learn from and exchange ideas with some of the world’s top business leaders, policy officials, lobbyists, journalists, diplomats and academics in the challenging and dynamic environments of Washington, D.C. and New York City or Vienna, Budapest and Prague.

Each session of the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) is designed to educate, inspire, and motivate students by giving them the opportunity to explore cultural differences firsthand, challenge diplomatic skills daily, build confidence and enhance decision-making skills in an exciting atmosphere that is challenging and fun.

GYLC gives high-achieving students aged 16-18 a greater understanding of their roles as global ambassadors while analyzing concepts surrounding communications, diplomacy, law, human rights, peace, security, economics and the role of the United Nations. Students return home from GYLC with a greater understanding of their roles and responsibilities as citizens and future leaders in an international community.

All students are provided with written materials designed to foster self-directed experiential learning. The program’s curriculum was developed under the direction of Dr. Donna Snyder, a former classroom teacher, elementary school principal and university professor. She earned a masters degree in school administration and curriculum development and holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. With Dr. Snyder’s guidance, the curriculum offers a unique approach to leadership training.”

A few of my classmates were fortunate to attend this conference during the summer of 2007 and all of them have told me that they had the best time and gained a lot of knowledge. I was unable to attend the conference last year and I wish I can attend this year’s conference.

I hope to be able to raise the money required to participate in this event and also my travel expenses from India. If you wish to sponsor me, please visit the sponsor page.

Thank you!
