Will you come and follow me? - James

Hey guys!

The site seems a little drowsy, eh? hehe, well I just thought I'd say g'day. How've you all been? I know some of you like Vince are smack bang in the middle of your mid-semester exams. Good luck with that! I got 2 essays that are due just around the corner. One of them is due this Thursday but I haven't started actually WRITING it yet! Well, I hope you've all been having a... hmm... I don't want to say "good week" because it's too cliche, hehe. A refining week, perhaps? I think that sometimes a "good" and "fine" and "happy" week is not what's required of us. Sometimes we have to follow Jesus Christ even when he calls us through the toughest terrain and hardest obstacles. It may be exhausting, scary or even seem pointless, but we are not alone. The Lord has a vision for us. On that note, I would like to share with you a song I heard for the first time on Sunday. The visiting pastor at Cheil church, Rev Andrew Collis, sang it for us and said that "it basically sums up the gospel of John". It's a traditional Scottish tune called "The Summons".

See ya soon.
Hwighting! :D

1. Will you come and follow me
If I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know
And never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown,
Will you let my name be known,
Will you let my life be grown
In you and you in me?
2. Will you leave yourself behind
If I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind
And never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare
Should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer
In you and you in me?
3. Will you let the blinded see
If I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free
And never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean
And do such as this unseen,
And admit to what I mean
In you and you me?
4. Will you love the 'you' you hide
If I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside
And never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found
To reshape the world around,
Through my sight and touch and sound
In you and you in me?
5. Lord, your summons echoes true
When you but call my name
Let me turn and follow you
And never be the same
In your company I'll go
Where your love and footsteps show
Thus I'll move and live and grow
In you and you in me

I love this song, it was recently played at my ordination and you are right, it does say it all, and with a great rocking tune that you can't get out of your head! What more could you ask for on those days when we all wonder what's the point?
