Our Mission:
Green Life Academy is a daycare/preschool and K-12school dedicated to the intellectual and personal development of each student in a caring and supportive environment. Located in Playas del Coco, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, we offer a challenging gifted program to prepare an international student body to excel in a variety of the world’s finest schools and universities. Green Life Academy is a learning community that supports all students of all backgrounds and ability levels, fostering self-confidence, self-discipline and self-worth in every student, enabling them to realize success in school and beyond. Our unique learning environment is characterized by the close student, teacher, and family relationships that develop over the course of study in a small school environment. A strong sense of community is based upon the values of mutual respect, sincere compassion, shared responsibility, and continual self-reflection.
Objectives
In Green Life Academy:
- Students are nurtured, supported, and treated as unique individuals. All students are challenged to excel academically and, model the behaviors expected of responsible citizens.
- The joy of learning and intrinsic motivation to become a life-long learner is emphasized as much as the acquisition of essential knowledge and the development of academic skills.
- In addition to academics, the social climate of the school, in and out of class, encourages the development of international understanding, commitment to community service, and the acceptance of and cooperation with diverse cultures.
- We emphasize collaboration between parents and the school. As a parent-owned rather than corporate entity, our organizational structure reflects our commitment to giving parents the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and skills to the school.
- Our school’s curriculum is guided by a goal of thorough student mastery and achievement through a standards-based curriculum rather than merely covering content.
- We encourage appreciation for Costa Rican culture and the ability to communicate in Spanish.

I am very interested in what your school has to offer my two children. I am currently looking into moving to Costa Rica with my family, including my two small sons, ages 3 and 9 months. I am in the process of seeking out advice and guidance in this quest for more information about life in Costa Rica with small children. I am also interested in teaching opportunities as I have the qualifications to teach as well. Any advice/suggestions you can offer? Much appreciated! Keep up the great work!

I think that this school’s mission towards their students and community is amazing! I have a lot of respect for it because I feel it makes kids more well rounded and caring individuals. I would greatly appreciate some information on the requirements to teach at your institution because I would love to be a part of something like this. Currently, I live in the U.S., but intend to move to Costa Rica in the beginning of 2013 to earn a TEFL certification. Thanks in advance and continue that awesome teaching philosophy!
