Machinists Union plans car show to benefit charity

EVERETT — The seventh annual Bill Baker Memorial Steel & Wheels SuperShow is coming to Everett again this year.

The annual show for hot rods and custom motorcycles will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Everett Machinists Union Hall, 8729 Airport Road.

The annual event is sponsored by Machinists Union Local Lodge 751-A and is a fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America, a charity that helps place trained guide dogs with blind or vision-impaired people across North America.

Along with the car show, there will be food and live music. Entries are $20 for those who pre-register, or $25 on the day of the event. Forms are available at Machinists Union District Lodge 751 union halls in Auburn, Everett, Renton and Seattle.

Last year’s SuperShow attracted more than 60 custom cars and bikes and raised more than $15,000 – both records for the event. Overall in 2010, Machinists District Lodge 751, with which Local 751-A is affiliated, raised more than $276,000 for Guide Dogs of America.

Originally formed in 1935 to represent hourly workers at the Boeing Co., Machinists District 751 now represents more than 28,000 working men and women at 44 employers across Washington, Oregon and California.  In 2010, District 751 members gave nearly 6,200 hours of volunteer community service and raised more than $276,000 for Guide Dogs of America, the union’s charity of choice.
